Loose Lips Sink Ships | A ZapFic100 Story Based on 5 Minute Freewrite (Day 1960) | Prompt: drinking and talking

Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "drinking and talking".

...This new micro-fiction story format was recently created by @felt.buzz. It's a bit longer than the usual ZAPFIC50 flash fiction I frequently participate in. Although a longer word count, I still struggle to rein in my thoughts to adhere to the 100-word limit. My story centers around talking excessively while drinking. Individuals who do so may find themselves speaking out of turn and acting accordingly sometimes causing confusion.

For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt: Day 1960: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: drinking and talking.

Below is my story:

As eldest, Amanda coordinated their family cruise. She knew all wouldn't go as planned. But she kept hope alive for family's sake.

Parents. Check. The rest, "iffy".

Kenneth and Karilee, twins, demanded a suite. They retracted after hearing the cost. A cabin would suffice, given their closeness.

Conversation over. However, their combined seven-day grudges flew into hyperdrive.

But Amanda got ahead of herself. It was only Day 1.

The endless buffet enticed the sensible adults.

The twins, having turned twenty-one, headed toward the bar for drinking and talking.

Suddenly, Karilee yelled, "sewage cocktail." Kenneth yelled, "pirates at starboard."

Panic ensued.
