The Case of the Playful Chandelier | ZAPFIC50 MONDAY (6/12/23) | Prompt: version (versión) [Eng/Esp]

ZapFic50Mondays-Logo-6-12-23.png

For this week's ZAPFIC Monday challenge, we have the ZAPFIC50. This challenge by @felt-buzz is a micro story told in exactly 50 words. The prompt "version" presented the opportunity to explore the complexities of human nature. It's well established that an given situation is subject to a person's point of view. When more than one person is involved, each may recall an event differently due to perception and memory recall. This is especially true when dealing with children.

My story is below:

A stern look with hands folded was cue their mother was in no mood for falsehoods.

"Would either of you wish to explain the version of what happened that I might actually believe?

Both children gulped, then stared at the chandelier laying on the floor, a rope around its collar.

I'm pleased you think so. Children are amazing in their ability to conjure up stories they don't take time how ridiculous they sound. I know me and my siblings did.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

I just thought of Lil' Robert and George standing there, or Milton and Gracie, and just rolled ... or any of my students, a couple of whom I've told, "If you gon' lie, at least make it interesting ... if you're not going to do the smart thing and tell the truth, at least make it interesting for me to hear you lie!"
