Hello everyone. Welcome back to the ZapFic50 Friday. In this 30th week, the prompt "bat" elicits thoughts of an action instead of the traditional object used to hit a ball with. Although you can find you may be hit none-the-less with other bats.

@felt.buzz and the Freewriters Community bring you a new microfiction format. This ZapFic50 Friday challenge tests our ability to construct as near complete a story using only 50 words. Using various prompts as your guide, the challenge starts on Friday and runs through the weekend.

Below is my story.

It started out innocently as any blind date set up by one's mom could.

Neither expected sparks to fly during the chaperoned date.

Justin talked pleasantly to Karyn between intermittent stares at her mom's flawless complexion and beautiful, frequently batting eyelashes.

"How'd you like Karyn?" Justin's mom asked afterward.

"Who?"

So happy you were caught off guard. It happens some times like this. I love trying to create such micro stories with a word limit. The exercise forces me to write precisely when attempting my 1K+ short story fiction.

This was a delightful story. The presence of Karyn's mother clearly distracted Justin. The image conveys the reason why he would be. Have a wonderful weekend.
