Often times, individuals only look at material possessions as their "bright light". This prompt brought to mind situations I've experienced where the loss of my items was minor compared to my family's safety and well-being. I relate a story as a ZAPFIC50 taht's told in exactly 50 words. The challenge was created by @felt.buzz.

Below is my story.

Sirens warned of tornadoes as the Thompsons raced from their house to the cellar for safety.

Securing the door, they huddled close, embracing.

Suddenly darkness. As they waited, destructive debris pounded their shelter.

The father knew they'd lost everything.

Storm passed, they emerged.

"Lord, we thank you!" prayed the mother.

Happy New Year to you. I Live in Texas, so we're all too familiar with various extreme weather, such as tornadoes, flooding, and hurricanes. The key is to be prepared as best you can. Even with that numerous people lose their lives in each weather event.
