In this Week 36 of the ZAPFic50 Friday, the prompt "industry" brings to mind new technologies that are often introduced, but are difficult to get the masses on board with careful planning. One can invent the best product; however, it's the pitch that moves the idea forward to acceptability by a large number of the population.

@felt.buzz and the Freewriters Community bring you a new microfiction format. This ZapFic50 Friday challenge tests our ability to construct as near complete a story as we can using only 50 words. The challenge starts on Fridays. It's a great writing opportunity over the weekend using various prompts as your guide.

Below is my story:

Although the U.S. introduced electric cars in the early 1900s, manufacturers failed to convince its citizens this new industry was the gateway to a future independent on fossil fuels.

Price, performance, and marketing was its downfall.

Not abandoning the technology, manufacturers forged ahead.

Next came charging stations. However, skepticism persists.
