An Interesting And Funny List Of Things I Never Want To Do

Source

Hello everyone in the wonderful hive family. Hope you are all doing well. Happy Monday to you all. Once again, I’m grateful to the hive learners’ community for their wonderful initiatives.

Today is the beginning of a prosperous week and the hive learners’ community has again presented us with an amazing topic.

What is an anti-bucket list?

Source

I'm sure a lot of us have heard about a bucket list? It is a list of the things you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfill, or experiences you wish to accomplish in your lifetime. Breaking or setting a business world record, learning how to swim, learning how to play chess, sky diving, mountaineering, bungee jumping, camping, riding a horse, riding a roller coaster, and so on. The list goes on and on.

An anti-bucket list is the complete opposite of the things you don’t ever want to do. An anti-bucket list is a list of the things you want to avoid at all costs. Why is an anti-bucket list important? I’m sure a lot of you might be thinking why on earth’s name would a person get an anti-bucket list? Well, life is full of ups and downs, and humans are bound to make mistakes. Some learn from their mistakes the hard way, while others learned the other way. Maybe you realized skydiving isn’t for you. Or maybe you learned the hard way that riding a rollercoaster isn’t at all for you. Or maybe you got stabbed by a 7inches knife in the back after trusting your friend too much. I’m sure you don’t want to waste your time repeating these mistakes, that is why you should get an anti-bucket list.

Trust a friend completely

Source

This is the first thing on my anti-bucket list. I’ve had a lot of terrible experiences with people who claimed to be friends, but when I looked back, they had stabbed my back with a 6 inches knife.

Not everyone is your friend. Just because they hang out with you, laugh with you, or are okay with you doesn’t mean they like you. People are very deceptive. At the end of the day, situations expose fake friends, so be very careful.

When I was in my final year in high school, my friend, better put, my classmate who pretended to be my friend, decided to save money in a joint account. After about 3 months, we had saved 90 thousand nairas (45 thousand nairas each). We were supposed to share the money after our graduation, a day before the graduation, he messaged me that his mom had a terrible accident and had been admitted to the hospital. He begged me to borrow him my share (My 45k) and he promised to return it after 2 weeks. Guess what happened next? After 2 weeks, I asked him for my money and he said he’d transfer it the next day. The next day again, he said I should give him two more days. He kept adding more days and it even got to a point when he stopped replying to my texts.

I was so angry that I couldn't hold it any longer. I went to his mom’s shop to explain what her son did. That was when I got the greatest surprise ever. He didn't use the money for his mom’s medical bills, his mom wasn't involved in an accident. HE USED THE MONEY, MY MONEY TO BUY A NEW PHONE. His mom promised to return the money, and after a few days, she fulfilled her promise. I learned my lesson. I don't ever want to trust a friend, ever again.

Stay in a toxic relationship

In last week’s edition, I talked about the experience I had when I found myself in a toxic relationship. I had to let go of the so-called relationship. My partner was happy, but I wasn't. I endured for a while because I was blinded by love. But It got to a point where couldn't endure any longer. I discovered that my happiness also matters. I was a nice guy and I deserved to be very happy. So, I opted out.

What I faced was traumatic. There are days when I couldn't eat, but I sustained myself by drinking water or eating junk. I don't ever want to experience something like that again.

Compare myself to others

Source

Yes! This. Social media makes it very easy to compare yourself with people. We get jealous of the people we see on the internet, especially celebrities. They drive big and expensive cars, buy lands, build mansions, wear expensive clothes, put on shiny jewelry, and spend lavishly. Who wouldn't want to be like them?

Well, I'll tell you something; don't ever compare yourself to anyone in this world, if you do, then you are insulting yourself.

You don't know what they did to get rich. You might not even be able to handle half of what they are doing. Your path and time are different from theirs, so don't think you are doing it all wrong. Be strong, dedicated, focused, and committed. Pray too.

A year after I graduated from high school, we had a reunion. Everyone dressed well. And this guy, my high school mate (We stopped talking after we graduated) came with a blue Toyota Camry. In all truth and sincerity, I was jealous and I compared myself to him. Well, it was after I heard that he is an internet fraudster.

I don't ever want to compare myself to anyone. I'm focused, determined, and committed, and I pray. So I believe in myself.

Get a tattoo

I know tattoos are nice and they have hidden meanings. But not everyone wants to get a tattoo. Cristiano Ronaldo (One of my role models) doesn't have a tattoo because he donates frequently. I also love to follow that path.

I know tattoos are important to some people. But it is a no-go area for me. I’ve heard a lot of things about the harmful things it could breach the skin and cause some skin infections. I don't like tattoos, but I respect them because it is an art form.

Ride a roller skate on a very busy road

Source

If my mom should see this, she’d definitely roast me. I started skating when I was 10 years old. No one taught me how to skate. One of my uncles bought me a pair of roller skates, and I learned how to skate in my parent’s living room. My mom was cool with it, not until I started taking it outside and riding it around the neighborhood. I knew my mom wouldn't let me ride outside, so I always skate anytime she wasn't around. But one day, I got unlucky. She caught me and sized my skate shoes for two years.

I was very happy when she returned it. You know kids (especially males) are very stubborn. I repeated it, and this time, she threw my skate shoes away.

Then when I gained admission into the university, I joined a skating group. I'm natural and a very fast learner. I learned new skills very quickly. Then one day, I decided to skate on a very busy road. It got to a point where I couldn't control myself again, I was moving at a very high speed. My heart started racing. I had to jump into a bush to stop myself. Luckily, I didn't sustain any injury.

I learned my lesson. I don't want to do it ever again.

Get chased by a turkey

I know this might sound funny, but yes! It is going on my anti-bucket list. TURKEYS! Those animals are VIKINGS.

Whatever you are doing in this life, always avoid messing with turkeys😂.

A friend of mine invited me to his house, before that time, I had never visited him. This dude didn't tell me they reared TURKEYS! Why would he omit such an important detail? He told me the address and important things to know about his area, but he didn't even bother telling me about the Vikings in his house.

That unfaithful day, I dressed well, I even wire my favorite sneakers. Then I got to his house, I opened the gate and entered, I was about to close the gate when I saw those creatures running to where I was. I didn't know I had super speed, the flash in me came out, I ran out very fast. People that saw what happened laughed at me. I felt embarrassed. I didn't even go back, I went home. But when they killed it and fried it, I went to his place and chewed the bones.

Always remember to be careful when choosing friends. You don't want to end up with a friend who instead of making you progress, makes you sad.

A very expensive gift indeed. It can take years to earn and only a matter of seconds to lose.

Why would he omit such an important detail?

Perhaps he forgot or didn't know you fear those mean creatures 😂😂😂

I can never trust a friend completely because I don't know what is ongoing in people's mind. We have people in different skins and when problem comes, you see their real them.

Social media will only let us see what we want to see and hide the other side of them. I will never compare myself to another because I don't know the source of their success or wealth.

My time will always come and I only need to do my best and keep being patience. Thanks for sharing.

Trust is a fickle thing indeed, it seems so small but can destroy lives. we have to be careful about who we place our trust in, because anyone at all is capable of sticking that dagger in our backs.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Trust is free, but it is never cheap. So don't give it away too easily. Once it is broken, it is difficult to repair. That's why I keep only a handful of friends.
