Bold Moves: How I Stepped Into The Unknown To Accomplish The Unimaginable

The road to achieving a goal isn't a straight one. It is like navigating a zigzag path filled with thorns, sticks, obstacles, twists, and turns. In the quest to achieve something specific, we might be forced to do unthinkable things. Life has an interesting way of pulling its strings, and sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zone and do unexpected things; things that are somewhat out of line or character for us. Sometimes, we are forced to do what no one would expect of us because we have been blindfolded by our goals. Have you ever acted out of character to achieve a specific goal?

MY EXPERIENCE

Last year, during my second year of university, I was generally well-behaved in class. I’m not a charity-chatty. I always showed respect to my professors and even my classmates. Unlike the class jesters and troublemakers, I always kept my cool and caused trouble over little things. But when I was with my friends, my personality changed quite a bit. You see, I'm what you might call an ambivert - it is not so complicated. Sometimes, I'm an introvert, and other times, I'm an extrovert. I'm an introverted extrovert. ( I guess this is the best way to phrase it.) The introverted side of me comes out when I'm in public or with people I don't know well, but with my friends, I'm more talkative and sociable.

Most people, especially my classmates, see me as a cool person. When I say “cool person,” I mean someone who wouldn't do anything goofy. You know, the way outsiders see the Royal family (as a special family/ close to perfection.) Yes, I was that guy.

OUT OF CHARACTER

Having established the fact that my coursemates saw me as a “cool person” and a very gentle guy, I wanted to prove them wrong. Despite my reputation as a “he wouldn't do anything goofy" guy, I wanted to show my coursemates a different side of my personality. An opportunity came knocking on my door and I grabbed it with both hands. My faculty hosted a social gathering with a gender swap theme- guys dressed like ladies, and ladies dressed like guys. The event was just for fun. It is frequently done among university students.

Being a gentle and cool guy, no one expected me to participate in the gender swap event. At first, I wasn't going to take part, but the idea of changing everyone's opinion of me was too tempting. It pushed me to achieve my goal. I'm pretty sure 90% of my coursemates didn't expect me to do something as goofy as that.

I told one of my female friends about it. She was really surprised that I wanted to participate in the gender swap event. At first, she didn't believe me, but after convincing her, she decided to help me get the necessary things. She gave me the necessary clothes and even helped me apply makeup on my face.

The gender swap day was really funny. All eyes were on me. No one imagined I'd do something as goofy as that. Although it was a nice experience, I don’t think I'd ever do something as goofy as that again.

Things ended up well. Of course, my coursemates still saw me as a responsible and gentle person, but I proved to them that beneath mygentle face, I could also be funny and goofy. There are two sides to a coin.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. While I'd love to share some photos from the gender-swap event, I've thought about it and decided that it would be better not to post such pictures on my blog. I don't want them going around. Haha.

Something I would have done too, though I am reserved amongst my friends. I think not sharing the pictures is a good decision.
