Four Important Qualities I Possess As A Role Model

A role model is someone we look up to, someone we admire. We emulate that person; think, dress, and do things like them. Having a successful person as a role model is good and all. Their lifestyle, their pasts, and what they’ve achieved motivate us to become a better version of ourselves.

Now, what if the table turns? What if you are the role model? Do you have any attributes that’ll make people want to emulate you?

If you’re rich, famous, and successful, while some people might hate you for what you have and plan to do things against you, others will admire you and strive to get your position. Humans tend to admire people with special abilities and characters. If you don’t have something to offer, something within you that makes you stand out, then don’t expect to be admired by many.

Do I see myself as a role model?

Yes! Absolutely! I see myself as a role model that a lot of people look up to. Besides the fact that people (especially young people) have walked up to me and told me I’m their role model, I’m sure I motivate a lot of people because I’m responsible and I have special abilities that people can emulate. No, I’m not being proud, I’m just stating the fact.

During my secondary school days, I was one of those few students that were chosen as prefects. School prefects are senior students that are authorized by the school management to manage the affairs of the school. I wasn’t harsh on my junior ones, and they all loved and admired me. The juniors walked up to me countless times and told me how they wanted to be a prefect like me and how they lived the way I conducted assemblies. I was also one of the bay students in my class, I represented my school in competitions, both academics, and sports. I was admired by a lot of people, not only juniors but also my classmates and even teachers.

Also, in my church, I was once the youth president. At the age of 15, I was chosen as the youth president. And people said that was the first time in so many years that they’d choose such a young person as the youth president. The position of youth president is a very important one and before you get that position the church committee will examine you. Even with that, I did a very good job. I was the president of so many youths and about 80% of them were older than me, and I held the position for three years.

During my tenure as the president, a lot of people walked up to me, and told me how they wanted to be like me, even my parents admired me.

Presently, I’m the president of the altar servers (an organization in the Catholic Church), I control the organization and a lot of people look up to me and admire what I do. A lot of people have walked up to me and said they want to join the organization because they like the way I serve on the altar.

What are the attributes I have that people can emulate?

As I said earlier, I have a lot of special qualities that people can emulate. Here are some of the qualities I possess that people can emulate;

I’m very responsible

I think this is one of the best qualities one can possess. Not everyone can be responsible because it takes a lot. I said it earlier that I became the youth president of my church when I was just 15 years old. One of the qualities they saw in me was that I was very responsible. There’s a well-known saying “anything worth doing at all is worth doing well” which is why I take everything I do very seriously.

I’m not the type of person that neglects a task and gives flimsy excuses. Not only am I responsible in church, but also every other area (in school and at home).

My talent

One of the many talents I have is playing football. Not only is playing football my talent, but also my hobby. I play football at least once or twice a week. A lot of people; especially my younger ones, admire my skills, and try to emulate me.

** I’m determined and consistent**

Determination and consistency and good qualities of a role model. I’m so glad I possess these qualities. Over the years, I’ve been able to influence a lot of people with these qualities; especially my classmates and friends. Growing up, I had this mindset about consistency. I believed and still believe the best way to attain success is through consistency and determination.

Let us use going to the gym as a case study. You can’t expect to get a good body; six packs, abs and all, in just three weeks. It takes determination and consistency.

Respectful

I respect people regardless of their age difference. Respectfulness is a good quality everyone should possess. It brings a lot of benefits.
