From Sunrise To Sunset: A Day In My Life

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift, that is why we call it the present." I came across this quote before I went to sleep. I pondered upon it all night. I didn't sleep well because it was too hot, and I kept tossing and turning in bed. Despite having a rough night, I woke up with a big smile on my face, ready and excited to kick-start the day. In this post, I'll write about how I spent yesterday, the rollercoaster of emotions and experiences that made my day a blast.

Sundays have a unique feeling to them, a kind of vibe that is different from any other day of the week. I'm not sure if it's because it is a church day for most Christians, but it just has this particular feeling. Saturdays and Mondays have peculiar feelings too. As I mentioned above, I had a rough night and so I woke up very late.

After stretching and cracking my knuckles, I was finally ready to tackle the day. I got up and headed up to the bathroom where I brushed my teeth. I checked the clock and it was past 11 am. I knew my mom would have gone to church by then. I checked her room to confirm if she had left for church, and she had. It was just me and my elder sister at home. After brushing my teeth, I approached my sister in the living room and greeted her, she responded with a slight nod. “Where is mummy?” I asked. I made sure my voice was loud enough for her to hear me. “She has gone to church, " she replied. “Your food is in the kitchen, " she added.

I stepped outside to enjoy the sight of the beautiful sky. After basking in the euphoria of sweet-scented air and wonderfully painted sky, I looked around me and realized that the weeds were almost as tall as I am (I really hope you understand that I exaggerated that expression.” Growing up, my dad hammered on the importance of living in a tidy environment. Every Saturday morning, before he heads to work, he clears all the weeds in our compound. Those stubborn weeds didn't stand a chance at all. He taught me how to take care of the surroundings . Sometimes, we cleared the weeds together. That way, I learnt how to take good care of my surroundings.

I went back inside and brought out a hoe and cutlass. The cutlass wasn't really sharp but I managed it. Plus, I didn't have alternatives. I spent about 2 hours clearing the weeds. It is the rainy season over here; a period that is characterized by frequent rainfall. During this period, weeds grow rapidly. It is almost like their ability to regenerate instantly. After about 2 hours, I got tired and decided to call it a day. Clearing the weeds was the most remarkable thing I did yesterday. After my “strenuous chore,” I went inside and had my bath.

After bathing, I checked the clock. It was a bit past 1 pm. I headed to the kitchen and opened the pot. “Oh! Rice.” I said to myself. After eating, I turned on my cell phone and headed straight to Discord to check up on my friends. I chatted with them for about an hour. I left when I was no longer feeling the vibe.

My afternoon was not so bad thanks to the anime I watched. One important thing you need to know about me is that I'm a big fan of anime. Unlike @merit.ahama who can spend the whole day watching Kdramas, I prefer anime. Anime is my go-to genre. Earlier this month, my friend who is also a big fan of anime recommended an anime. He promised that I'd love it. I decided to give it a try, and I must say that I didn't make a mistake trusting my friend’s words. Bleach is one of the best anime I've ever seen. After chatting with my friends on Discord, I watched so many episodes of Bleach until I lost track of time. I was so engrossed in watching the anime that I did not remember to eat lunch. The heat over here is so brutal! Sometimes, it gets so scorching that I have to go shirtless or even go outside. I had to remain shirtless all afternoon.

I stopped watching Bleach when my mom got back from church. Apparently, she had meetings that made her come home late. I didn't do much in the evening. I chatted with my mom and sister. I slept early because I was too tired to indulge in anything at all.

WHAT DID I ACHIEVE YESTERDAY?

One remarkable thing I achieved yesterday was that I cleared my surroundings. Yes, I got rid of the stubborn weeds. Keep your surroundings clean, for a tidy space brings a peaceful and happy place.

Thanks for reading.

This man and farm is activities is still a mystery to me, I usually look at you like you can't withstand that stress, but then I've seen you do that over and over again to know you're capable.

And why oppressing merit with her kdrama, I'm not much of a fan of anime but I watch cartoons and action movies.

Excellent weekend spend. The weed is also a problem here also. They grow rapidly wherever they find any space.

You know, clearing weeds is not such a big deal if you have the necessary tools.

Clearing the weed and making the surrounding clean was sure a remarkable thing you did because even your parents would be happy you did that even without them ordering you to do so but you know what you should do. I believe you had a wonderful Sunday even though the heat was something frustrating, it is everywhere and we hope it would leave us soon. Rainy season is coming soon.

I’m pretty sure it made them happy. Mydad is always the one clearing the weeds whenever I am in school.
Thanks for stopping by, Princess.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift, that is why we call it the present."

I remember this line from one of my childhood cartoon series Kungfu Panda.

I am trying to remember how it feels to stay at home with parents, it's been more than two years now lol
