My Most Cramped And Uncomfortable Car Experience

I used to think I hated traveling, but I realized that my experiences were limited to commercial buses and their uncomfortable traveling conditions. You should probably or totally avoid traveling in commercial buses if you’re new to traveling. However, when I had the opportunity to travel in a private car, I really enjoyed the experience. Over here, commercial buses and drivers will make you hate traveling. Not only will they overload the bus, but they’ll also charge ridiculous amounts. It wasn’t until I went on a trip in a private car that I discovered the true beauty of traveling. I wouldn’t say traveling is my hobby, it would take a lot of time before I would give it that tag. The best way to put it is that traveling isn’t as bad as I thought it was.

I’m sure lots of us have had crazy car experiences whether as drivers or passengers. One reason why traveling in commercial buses is interesting is that they can be funny. I’ve had lots of crazy experiences when it comes to traveling- crazy drivers, bad roads, funny passengers, faulty vehicles, and so on. However, nothing beats the crazy car experience I had last December.

December (especially when it is close to the festive period) is always tight. During the festive periods, people are always traveling from one place to another to spend time with their loved ones, this makes traveling difficult. During this period, drivers use this opportunity to exploit people. They increase the prize by almost half the original prize.

Last December, my school went on break on the 22nd of December. My friends and I decided to travel back home the next day, but we didn't anticipate the chaos at the car park. We got to the park and the crowd there was nothing like we had ever seen. There were hundreds of people crowding and waiting at the park, trying to catch a bus to their respective destinations. Not only did the drivers increase the fare, but there were also limited buses. It was a tug of war, a real fight. We got to the park around 11 am. By 2 pm, my friends and I were still there waiting to catch a bus, but there was no progress. Then, a white bus pulled up and everyone began to scramble for a spot on board. It became the survival of the fittest.

The driver announced that the car was the last car going to my destination. People hurriedly went to the car, trying to open it to get in, but the driver wouldn’t open the door. He announced that the first people to get in would be the people allowed to sit. There were about 50 people on that bus, pushing and pulling each other. Suddenly, the driver opened the doors and people rushed to get in. There was an old woman there, luckily for her, an able-bodied young man was there to protect her. People fell down and trampled on themselves.

The driver opened the boot, seeing this my friend immediately screamed “Boot! Boot!.” We rushed over to the boot and entered through it. It was not an easy fight. About 10 guys (including my friends and I) were struggling to enter through the boot. In our quest to enter forcefully, my friend who was wearing a face cap lost his facecap. Apparently, his face cap flew from the boot to the driver’s seat while we were struggling to enter. It was a real tug of war. The back seat was made for 4 people, but six of us sat down there. Same thing with the four seats in front of us. The most annoying thing is that the driver collected money for 6 people instead of four.

The journey was crazily uncomfortable. I couldn’t breathe well. It was so tight that at one point one of us had to stand up. We took turns in standing up. That was my worst and craziest car experience ever.
