Self-Love: One Of The Vital Keys To A Healthy Lifestyle

avatar

Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.

Life isn't a bed of roses. I can't count how many times I've written about life in my previous articles. Well, this topic gives me another opportunity to write about how life can be stressful to some people. A lot of people out there don't find it easy to make ends meet. Some find it very hard to even put food on their tables. All fingers are not equal, while others live life comfortably, others have to stress so much to make it.

In our quest for financial freedom, some people forget about self love. They forget to take care of themselves. I know it is not easy to make money. It is not easy to struggle. I've been in a position where I had to struggle really hard to make money, and I can tell from experience that it is not easy at all.

Using underclass parents as a case study. Parents want the best for their kids. I'm referring to parents from poor backgrounds. They do everything in their power to make sure their kids succeed and live and achieve what they couldn't. They work day and night, even on weekends to make sure they provide for their kids. They work so hard that they even forget to enjoy themselves. I can't count the number of times I've written about my mom on this blockchain. She's a great woman. A good mother and that is why I always give her credit for almost everything good that I exhibit. But I've not really written much about my dad. Well, this is where my dad comes to play- I have a good relationship with my dad (although it is not as deep as the one I have with my mom). He's a hardworking man that is always ready to take care of his family. He works so hard that he even forgets to take care of himself. I hope (and I'm very sure) to repay him for his love, care, and support one day.

The importance of self love cannot be overemphasized. I understand that some people have bills to pay and things to settle, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of yourself. It is when you love yourself, and take care of yourself that you'd be able to live happily and love others. How do you expect to love others when you don't even love yourself? Do you think this theory is true?

I read @vickoly’s post on this topic. Vic is a person that goes the extra mile to please people, and at the end of the day when he wants to take care of himself he realizes he has exhausted his funds. I was just like him a few years back. Oh boy did I like to make people happy. Even when I was in high school, I made sure I did things for my close friends and at the end of the day, I forgot to take care of myself.

I love making my friends happy. I don't have many close friends, but the few friends I have, I make sure I maintain a very good relationship with them. I don't joke with their birthdays. I always save up and buy gifts for them. I remember when I was still in high school, there was this beautiful girl I was crushing on. I'd save up half of my school money to buy gifts for her on her birthday. Yes! It is good that I did that, but the bad thing about it is that I never bought gifts for myself throughout my high school years. I was always buying for others.

Everything changed when I got to the University. I discovered the importance of self-love. If there's something you should know about me is that I love myself. I know everyone wants the best for themselves, but I go extra. I love myself and I love taking good care of myself. I still buy gifs for my friends, and I also buy amazing things for myself.

This image above is the sneakers I bought for myself on my last birthday. Do you think it is a bad idea to buy cool things for yourself? If you've never tried it, try it one day and see how happy you'd be.

My school is very stressful. They drain every bit of energy you have in you. After attending classes, burning late night candles and working on projects, the best thing to do is to take yourself out for a good treat. And that is what I do once in a while. You don't have to go to fancy restaurants, or expensive places to take good care of yourself. You don't have to buy expensive gifts. The little things count, as far as you're happy.

Anytime I'm stressed or down, I take a break from what's stressing me and I take myself to a treat. If you've not noticed, there's a great power in food. Good food can do a lot. I'm a foodie (I'm also a picky eater), and food makes me happy, so anytime I want to treat myself well, I go to a nearby restaurant or order something nice.

I'm also a big fan of snickers. I love wearing sneakers that match my shirt, so I have different colors. I buy snickers for myself as a gift.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME I TREATED MYSELF TO A GOOD TIME

Sight that chicken. I love fried chicken.

As I said earlier, it isn't until you visit big parks or eat at expensive restaurants before you count it as self-love. The last time I treated myself to a good time was two days ago. After so many days of burning the late night candles, I finished my exams and my body wanted to enjoy. I wanted to have a little me-time. The first thing that came to my mind was to go to the market and buy catfish to make pepper soup, but I was stressed that I had to give up on that plan. Instead I went to a restaurant and I enjoyed myself. I bought a nice meal, but I didn't want to eat there so I took it to my hostel and enjoyed myself.

In conclusion

The importance of self-love cannot be overemphasized. There are lots of health benefits of self-love. It is one of the vital keys to a healthy lifestyle.

My dear self love first before any other person.
One thing I do is please myself first before any other because some people will still not even appreciate your little and don't even care about the sacrifices you make for them.
