Teachers Are The Foundation Of The Future

Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.

Teachers are one of the best people in the world. They build great minds. They instill knowledge, inspire hope, instruct, mentor, and educate. Sadly, they are not well paid in my country. I don't know about other countries, but here in my country, teaching is a “not-too-good” profession. I remember when I was still in high school. We were all on the assembly ground that day when the principal asked who would love to choose teaching as a profession in the future. No one said anything. I really cannot blame them. As I said earlier, teachers are not well paid in my country, so people try to find other better jobs. I still wonder how teachers manage to put food on their tables, and pay their children’s fees and other bills. Imagine a teacher waking up very early every day. Teaching students every day for nothing less than 8 hours and end up getting paid 25 thousand Nairas (less than 60 dollars). How do you expect them to buy food, take care of their families, and pay bills?

Even if we all are running from teaching jobs, we'll need to act as a teacher at one point of our lives. Mothers, fathers, and even older siblings are teachers. They help form and build children to be better versions of themselves. Generally, teachers are good. But the truth is; some of them are not. Just a few of them. We all passed through primary and elementary school. I'm sure we can point to one or two teachers that failed to do their jobs well.

Imagine you were called to grade your teachers on a scale of one to 10. Who would be the best and the worst? This topic is an interesting one. It brings back memories. Taking a quick trip down memory lane, I remember how my friends and I used to disturb our teachers. My set was named the “most troublesome set” ever. We disturbed teachers so much that they wanted to come to our class. There were strict teachers that we dared not disturb their classes.

THE BEST

My best teacher ever is a woman. My secondary school teacher. She taught me Economics for 3 years. Teaching is her passion and she teaches passionately. Unlike some teachers, she doesn't discriminate. She makes sure everyone understands. She stoops low and relates with her students well. She taught us for 3 years (8 terms). I wrote her exams 8 times and I never had anything less than A.

She's just a very good person. And I think the reason why she’s like that is because she is a mother. She's a good mother who knows what it takes to take care of her children. Throughout my secondary school years, she made sure she treated my classmates and I like her kids. I remember there was a time we were finding it difficult to understand a topic. One of those hard topics in Economics. After lecturing for more than 40 minutes and no one still didn't understand, she decided to change her ways. She joked with us to put us in a light mood. After doing that, she took things slowly so everyone would understand.

As I said earlier, she doesn't discriminate. There are some teachers that say things like “can't you guys just be like this student, does he/she have two heads”. She taught me for 3 years and she never said anything like that. She's just the best.

THE WORST

Teachers go extra miles in building students, but some of them just go too extreme. I went to a Catholic secondary school. If there’s something you should know about Catholic schools, it is the fact that they implement too many rules. Don't do this, don't do that!!! Ughhhhh. My secondary school principal is my worst teacher ever.

He loves implementing rules. Useless ones. I was a perfect, and he made prefects suffer. He made everyone suffer. There was a time he forced us to pay a certain amount of money. He punished those that didn't pay. I also remember the time he flogged my classmates and I 40 stokes. 40 hot strokes! I don't even want to write about him.

Thanks for reading.

Teaching is sure an underrated job. They go through a lot of stress… and for what? Some people actually talented and they have passion for it. I personally don’t…. It deals with a lot.

We sure have different kinds of teacher who had taught us or who is teaching us. Some teachers are just very good.

This is nice. Thanks for sharing
