The Angry Lizard

Hello everyone in the wonderful hive blockchain. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Once again, I'm grateful to the hive learners’ community for their amazing initiatives.

Today is another beautiful Sunday, another Day for us in the hive learners’ community to showcase our talents.

A few months ago, the hive learners’ community introduced the creative Sunday where its members can showcase their talents in different aspects. DIY (do it yourself), cooking, poems, and art. I'm proud of myself because I have touched all aspects of creative Sunday. My favorite aspect of creative Sunday is cooking (yes, I love to eat😂😂).

Today, I’d be doing something different and special. In this article, I worked on the art aspect. The main reason why this drawing is special to me is that I spent so much time on it. It might look simple for some people, but it means a lot to me.

Well, I think everyone is an artist, although some are special and better than others. But with commitment, hard work, dedication and consistency, you'll improve on your artistic skills.

I'm ashamed to say I don't practice. Probably because it is something I like doing. Well, when I was in elementary school I really loved drawing, but things changed when I got to high school. I can't even remember the last time I drew something when I got to the university. Then when the hive learners’ introduced creative Sunday, I started drawing again.

I've noticed I draw things better when I use a pencil; it is very comfortable and better, because I'm not really good at drawing, so I get to erase my mistakes.

This is my drawing right here. I named it “The angry Lizard”.

Materials Used

  • A4 paper
  • Pencil
  • Eraser

You see, the materials I used were very few, it would've been better if I had added colours, but I had none at home, so I left it that way.

Step one

The first step is to arrange the needed materials well, so you won't get distracted. Normally, I like to do this even when doing other things like cooking. I feel I'm a step ahead when I do this.

Step 2

Haha. I had to take a deep breath before I started😂. I didn’t know what to do, all I wanted was just to draw an angry lizard. And to do that there are minor details to add to show that the drawing is angry. The next thing I did was to draw the tail (I made it short at first) and a part of the leg.

Step 3

After doing that, the next thing I did was to draw the stomach andthe second leg. After drawing the head, every other thing was easy to do. At one point I even got engrossed in it.

Step 4

After drawing the stomach and legs, I drew the neck. Drawing this path was much easier than drawing the head.

Step 5
Do you remember when I said every other part was easy when I completed the stomach and legs? Scrap that, the head was the most difficult part. I spent a lot of minutes- erasing and drawing again. I tried to make the face angry so I darken eyeball and added some marks.

Step 6
The last step was very easy; I drew two butterflies and sketched some parts.

Thanks for reading. Please let me know how you feel about this drawing in the comment section.

Wow, you really tried. It is beautiful. Although you tried to make it look angry but I feel like it looks hungry😁😁😁. I remember learning how to draw a lizard in biology during my secondary school, it was not easy at all, well done.

Haha, I think I can see why you said the head was the hardest part... You tried anyway, especially with the body part. This reminds me of biology practicals back in school, they'd ask us to draw a lizard, fish and the rest of them. I was actually good at it back then but now, I'm not so sure.

I haven't picked a pencil to draw in ages. So, my skills would've probably faded by now. But like you said, practice makes perfect. Maybe I should get back to practicing too.

Nice creativity Favour, well done! 🤗

Well, I think everyone is an artist.

Guy!!! That point you made really touched me oh, had it been you know how much I love artistic work, you would not have tempted me this evening by saying, you think everyone is an artist 😁. I have been trying to come up with something through drawing but it doesn't always work for me. Most times I end up wasting the paper and getting mad at myself 😂. Well since you said with commitment, hard work and consistency, one can get a positive result, I won't give up. I will take this as a Sunday advise from the man of God 😁. Let me give it a try again

Your DIY is very great, even though you said it took you a lot of time. Taking a lot of time to create something quality is worth it. Someone said , it is better to be slow and sure. I love this work boss. I comot cap for you🙇

I can see a great artist here, you tried bro and I hope you will improve more than this. You are getting there I'm sure of that.
Drawing is a talent , everybody cannot draw, I don't even go near drawing since have left high school but I'm doing well in my graphics designs though.

I hope to see more drawings from you man, well done

You did good man. I mostly spend more time on the head myself when I try to sketch. But the problem with my sketches is that I spend so much time and energy sketching the head that it comes out very big, and by the time I’m done with it, I lose motivation or interest to finish the entire sketch because I’m tired. So my sketchbook mostly only has heads inside.😅

I started one sketch of a transformer(the animation) two weeks ago but couldn’t even finish the head. I just remembered of it now.

Oh wow! Hamza, happyfp is here🙈😂😂😂. I like the fact that you draw too. My mom used to tell me “always finish what you start”. I think you should try doing that too.

I would if I could find the book I started the sketch in. Unfortunately, I can’t cos I left it on campus when I was coming home.
