Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.

Thanks to the hive learners community for this amazing topic. Here in my country, everything is in shambles and the government is doing nothing about it. Not only is the political and education system messed up, even the religious and agricultural sectors are affected. Lack of security has become a normal thing.

It saddens me when I hear cases of crime. The evil perpetrators continue to perpetrate their evil deeds day by day. Gone are those days when evil perpetrators are always scared, now they can commit whatever crime they like because they have someone powerful backing them up.

Here in my country, it is almost impossible to go a day without hearing of a crime case. Kidnapping, robbery, drug and human trafficking, all these are some of the common crimes that we hear of almost everyday. A few months ago, my “street barber”. We call him the “street barber” because he has been in the profession even before I was born. His mum and sister travelled to Ibadan (a place in Nigeria), and never came back. Even till today, they are no where to be found.

Today’s edition has to do with witnessing a crime scene. Have you ever witnessed a crime scene? Was it minor or bloody? Some people might find witnessing a crime scene something simple or minor, but for some it can cause a traumatic effect. Witnessing a crime scene can have a long-lasting psychological effect.

I have a friend (a close friend) who got traumatized because he witnessed a crime scene. It happened when she was in university. Cultists/thugs raided her school and broke into her hostel. They raped all the girls that were in her room that day (including her). The awful experience really affected her that anytime someone bangs the door, she loses control of herself for a few seconds.

HAVE I EVER WITNESSED A CRIME SCENE

Yes! I have witnessed a crime scene. Even though it happened more than 10 years ago, I still remember vividly all that happened that day. Thankfully, I didn’t get traumatized by that awful experience.

MY EXPERIENCE

I was in primary/ elementary school when it happened. I can’t remember what class I was in, but all I can remember was that I was in primary school. My school was very close to the bank. Just a 5 minute walk. It was close to the main road and it wasn’t fenced so you could see the moving cars, traders, hawkers, and everything that was going on. As I recall, it was a Friday afternoon. The reason why I remember it was a friday, is because I was wearing my sports wear (sports jersey) that day. The school made it compulsory for students to wear their sports wear every Friday.

We (the students) were all in class that day, learning of course, then suddenly we heard gunshots. We all ran out to see what was happening. The teacher also ran out with us. When we got out of the class, we saw armed robbers in a bus with guns and black face mask. That was first and only time I saw armed robbers in real life. The ones I used to see were in American movies, but this one I witnessed it life.

Our teachers shouted and we all rushed back into the class. You know that scene in a movie where robbers break into a bank and everyone inside lies down on their faces? That is exactly what we did. Our teachers told us to lie down and not to even try to look up. They locked the doors and the classroom was in total silence. We couldn’t see a thing, all we heard was gunshots. It lasted for more than one hour.

Sadly, the armed robbers didn’t get caught. They robbed the bank successfully, although we heard rumors that the police killed some of them.

Thanks for reading.
