Village Life VS City Life

Hello everyone. I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.

What type of area do you live in? Rural or Urban? Of course, most people prefer living in the city because of the availability of social amenities and all. I've had a conversation with one of my friends who have lived both in rural and urban areas. He claims life in the city is better simply because it is peaceful.

I've spent most of my life in the city. I can't remember the last time I visited my dad’s village. Don't blame me, I wish I could visit there someday now that I've grown a bit, but the thing is I hate traveling, plus I’ve not had the chance to go. The last time I visited and stayed some days in a village was when I was in elementary/primary school. I was probably around 10 or 11 years old then. It has been a very long time and my memory is not so clear. But I remember seeing huts, poultry animals, and amazing things. I remember how my grandmother (from my father’s side) took me and siblings on a tour around her farm and showed us some parts of the village. One thing I remember is how peaceful the place was. Everywhere was so peaceful and silent that you could hear birds singing melodious songs.

I've lived in the city most of my life. I was born and brought up in Osun State, Nigeria. My siblings were also born in the city and they also grew up here. Although they grew up in a different state though. I've experienced life in the city and I've also experienced life in the village. Although the days I spent in the village were short, I’d really love to live there for a long period of time.

VILLAGE LIFE OR CITY LIFE

Source

As I said earlier, I've lived both in the village and city. Unlike urban areas, rural areas are less populated which means a lot of things will be reduced in rural areas for example, pollution ; noise, water, and land pollution. Peaceful environment is another reason why I enjoyed my stay in the village. There are so many things to love about the village. If you're not careful, you'll get stuck and won't want to leave.

There are so many lovely things in the village, but I prefer living in the village. If I were to choose between living my life in the city or in the village, I would boldly go for the latter.

If I had the chance, I’d prefer to live in the village. Living in the village has its own disadvantages, but in my own opinion, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. My dad lived most of his life in the village. He knows the do’s and don’ts. He's a complete “man from the village”. He often tells us interesting things about the village.

My Reasons

PEACEFUL ENVIRONMENT

Unlike cities, villages tend to be peaceful and serene. I really love quiet places. I love listening to birds. I don't like noise at all. Throughout my stay in the village, I don't remember a time when the neighborhood was noisy. Except for the time they hosted a festival. This is actually the main reason why I’d choose to live in the village.

HIGH COST OF LIVING

Source

The cost of living is generally high in my country, both in rural and urban areas. But prices of things in the city are just too outrageous/high compared to that of the village. Prices of food items, furniture, and even accommodation are way cheaper in the city. When people hear of the village, what comes to their mind is a place where people live in huts. When I was very young , I imagined the village to be a very local place where people live in huts made with palm fronds. I was surprised the first time I traveled to the village and I saw big and beautiful houses.

FRESH FOODS

Source

Most of the people in the village are farmers. I can remember how my dad used to bring fresh fruits for us everyday. My grandmother has a farm of her own where she grows almost everything. She grows crops and rears animals for commercial and subsistence purposes. If you're not a farmer, you can also get healthy, good and fresh fruits in their markets.

FESTIVALS

Entertainment in the village is top-notch. I can't remember what festival I attended, but what I do remember is that I had fun. Even though the environment is always quiet, they spice things up sometimes with festivals.

In conclusion, living in the village has its own disadvantages. Bad roads and lack of adequate power supply are one of the problems faced by villagers. It all comes down on individuals to pick their preferred choice.

Thanks for reading.

Festivals in the village can't actually be termed noisy because it's fun and entertaining. Village isn't a bad place to settle down though. Nice write-up 👍

Village life is cool but you could also achieve everything you've listed in the high brows of the city, but everything still falls down to being rich.

Village is for chilling.
City is for working.

Correct me, but this is the idea many people have.
