π A Penne For Your Thoughts π½οΈ Spicy Arrabbiata Makes Marinara Boring πΆοΈ
Arrabbiata sauce is with pasta is one of Srey-Yuu's favorite dishes, so today I made a massive batch while she was away at school.
Not Very Cambodian π€·ββοΈ
Β Β Β Monkey-B is a lover of Indian food like me, whereas her big sister prefers almost all foreign foods that aren't Indian or Cambodian, so we almost never agree on what's for dinner. One dish the whole family loves is penne all'arrabbiata, sure sounds fancy, but it's basically just spicy-garlicky marinara sauce, very easy to make. I was actually making this dish to provide Srey-Yuu a pleasant surprise for her return from home school, but I couldn't tell Monkey-B that because she claims to love this dish more than her big sister.
Β Β Β Cambodians are always puzzled as to why these seemingly 100% Khmer girls speak English with each other, love foreign foods and music, and have a very non-Cambodian sense of humor. Stepdads aren't supposed to rub off so heavily on their so-called stepdaughters. but we're basically best friends whether they know it or not, and I think this part of the reason. Srey-Yuu will be 14 years old soon, and I feel the pressure of needing to get our US immigration sorted out before she's 18, otherwise it will be very hard for her to get a strong passport as a solo adult.
Spicy Food, Cold Night πΆοΈ
Β Β Β Today's content is not a smΓΆrgΓ₯sbord of photo variety, but I have just felt low on energy, overworked and underslept the last few days, so apologies for the repetitive poorly lit photography. I did cook a lot though today, made rasam for lunch and some masala chai for a late night warmup in addition to our pasta dinner, and of course I did my ASEAN Hive duties and I'm trying to publish this post at nearly 2am.
Β Β Β We're running a little low on mint lately after a few big larb tofu dinners, so tonight's late night chai was a little less minty that I prefer, but we always save the stems and replant in new areas to get more and more established on our land. There is no such thing as too much mint in our house, it will always get used.

There's nothing wrong with your photographs. They say love goes through the stomach. You're an amazing
stepdad and husband.I wish I had someone cooking for me (like you do ).
Big hug!
Thanks for the kind words bro. Well, Portugal is still our plan C, so you never know, we may cook for you one day.
That sounds amazing! Although I wish you and your family could live in peace wherever you are.
Perhaps I am manifesting too hard? ( drawing you towards me )
Abraço
The future is unknown, and I'm certainly not entirely against Portugal, it seems like the closest thing to Albania that is in the EU.

Oh, I remember this recipe Penne Al Arabiata. Its spicy and the taste are good.
Marinara is good too, but I like spicy, so Arrabbiata always wins. π
Fertilizer is very easy to grow. When we go to the market, we buy it and use the leaves and the rest of the tree, we take it to the soft and wet soil, it will live and break a lot of branches, and we water every day, it will grow beautifully. To really love, try it, it will definitely work
Are you talking about basil? I think you mean to say basil because "fertilizer" and "herbs" are the same word in Khmer. We do grow some basil and mint at home, but the soil is not good here and we have to wait until construction is finished before we make a bigger garden.
The pasta looks so good π€ and it seems Monkey B really enjoying it. π€π₯°
She is the biggest fan, certainly. There is only one thing I don't like about pasta in sauce, sometimes it makes sounds that I don't like, similar to a boot stuck in mud π .
Nice to see this food. Looks so delicious. It seems that she enjoys this food. Have a good day!
We do eat non-Asian food sometimes, and Italian food ranks very high on the list, especially pizza marinara and pasta.
It's always nice when we find one dish that makes all the family happy! π
Small family, but hard to please. Sometimes I wish they'd stay with a family member for a week to truly understand what it means to have cooks for parents. I think it would only take a week for the kids to realize how culinarily lucky they are π€π.
