πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ Fun With Monkey-B πŸ•΅οΈ Looking For Our Missing Hand Axe & Showcasing Magic Potions βš—οΈ

bbbb.png

On this day Monkey-B and I decided to explore our property a bit after noticing our favorite hand axe was missing, likely stolen when we were in Phnom Penh.

Monkey-B's Mock Woodstove πŸ”₯

cfcf.png

Β  Β  Β When I had finally given up on ever seeing my trusty hand axe again, I decided I should walk the property and see what other things might've been potentially stolen. Upon walking outside, I immediately noticed Monkey-B had built a mini play woodstove from some spare cans that the wind often deposits on our property.

Β  Β  Β It's amazing what this little girl can make from potential trash. She built her little play stove by simply looking at our woodstove and trying to copy the style. With a few small changes her can stove would be fully functional, not bad at all for a first try.

Time To Explore πŸ•΅οΈ

cvcvcv.png

Β  Β  Β The reason for exploring wasn't a happy one, but I want to be 100% sure my hand axe was stolen before giving up on ever seeing it again. Well, at least I made our little walk fun and entertaining for Monkey-B, and she's excited to do just about anything as long as I hype it up properly first.

Β  Β  Β The hammock hut showed no signs of use, so I can kind of assume nobody camped here without permission while we were gone, and it's likely one of our neighbors is the thief as opposed to travelers passing through. Thievery is very common in Cambodia, so I expect a few items to be missing every time we leave the home for a few days, but I sure wish the Cambodian culture and religion would do more to discourage and admonish this kind of behavior.

Magic Potions & Hole Digging πŸ«™

Β  Β  Β After shedding invisible tears for the hand axe I will never see again, I realized I'll probably see it at the house of one of my neighbors later on this year. I decided to let Monkey-B cheer me up with some pleasant distractions that would make me forget I live among thieves. She loves more than anything to collect small containers and jars, then fill them with various magic potions she creates.

Β  Β  Β Another favorite pasttime of Monkey-B's is making holes with sticks, likely a game the children of cavemen played many thousands of years ago. A sharp stick makes the best hole, but decided what to put in said hole after completion can require some deep thought.

Β  Β  Β On this day the hole was left to be a hole, so perhaps it will give birth to a sprained ankle one day. At the moment I only have a handful of minutes each day to generate content for a post, so I apologize for trying to make the mundane interesting, but this is my life, not always exciting for potential readers, but for me it's a life I enjoy, just wish I had a little freetime each day to reflect, read, or just watch the river flow by.

She's innovative.

Well, as long as we are happy of what we're doing and we're not hurting people, that's ok.

I agree, and nowadays too many kids don't even know how to play outside because of screen addictions.

Oh no, she likes all things miniature. If she learns of this micro cooking genre of YT videos, I think a new obsession will be born πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†.

Nice work on the stove, she did well.

Hmmm... Sorry about the missing axe. It looks like it's better for you to keep your stuff inside the house, then. πŸ€ͺ

Quite a little engineer we have on our hands. Yes, I know I should keep things in the house when we leave. I have already painfully learned this lesson, and we did actually put most things in the house when we left, especially shovels and picks, but I didn't grab the hand axe because I assumed it's so small and fairly cheap that nobody would steal it, especially when the village is so small and everybody knows everybody. I was obviously wrong πŸ€”.

(Edited)

It's a shame that people can't respect another's property. πŸ˜• I love the pic of Monkey-B with her potion bottle! That is something I would sometimes do as a child, too. And maybe still do it... 😁

Thievery is quite common in Cambodia, very frustrating, but I guess the upside to that is serious violent crime like we have in the USA is much less here. Every time I find a little cap or bottle somewhere random, and it's full of sand, flowers, or other random materials, I know Monkey-B was in that very spot concocting something fierce.

That does suck about the axe. There are puns to be had about some axe-hole stealing it, but dry (and potentially poor) humour won't retrieve it for you. But at least your daughter is able to make the day better just by being her. πŸ˜ƒ

Axe-hole never crossed my mind, I guess my English creativity is going downhill the longer I live here πŸ˜‰. I will steal this one from you though and definitely use it again in the future to easy my axe sorrows. Maybe Monkey-B can prepare me a special potion to target axeholes πŸ˜„.

Haha. I'm glad to help! πŸ˜ƒ I actually came up with this one when I was discussing the story of Odysseus and how, at the end, he shot an arrow through a line of axe-holes to prove who he was. πŸ˜‚
