πŸ₯ Mango Salad, Peek-A-Boo With Nutsara, Lunar Eclipses, & Fire πŸŒ•

Monkey-B made quick work of a mango salad with a little help from big sister, we got a surprise visitor, and also did our best to see the lunar eclipse.

Cute Hat Nutsara πŸ‘’

Β  Β  Β Our neighbor baby Nutsara is now walking with great speed, and she can get into anything in our house in 3 seconds or less, so we have to keep a watchful eye on her as she learns what things are hazards and what things are safe to play with. He cute little crochet hat is quite entertaining, and she loves to wear it as much as she loves to rip it off.

Β  Β  Β Hard to imagine what she's thinking in this shot, but she's now doing a lot of contemplating and attempting to communicate a lot. She is a very sweet and curious girl, and always a welcome guest in our home.

Peek-A-Boo πŸ™ˆ

Β  Β  Β When I caught these series of images, I was intending to just snap a few cute pics of Nutsara, but instead I got the stages of a little peek-a-boo play with Monkey-b. She is quite fond of Monkey-B, and because her big brother doesn't play gently with her, she's safer here at our house playing with fellow girls.

Mango Salad Abandoned πŸ₯

Β  Β  Β Chef Srey-Yuu had to step in and finish Monkey-B's food prep work, I guess teamwork wins in the end. Srey-Yuu ended up making lunch practically by herself, pairing her mango salad with some stir-fried veggies and fried veggie pΓ’tΓ©, a pretty impressive meal for this budding chef.

Lunar Eclipse πŸŒ•

fds.png

Β  Β  Β We had heard of the lunar eclipse that was set to take place around 4pm Cambodian time, and although not nearly as impressive as a solar eclipse, I wanted to get some images for.........hmmm, no reason other than Hive content. I had a hard time tracking the path of the moon even while wearing polarized sunglasses and looking through two tinted windows, but I did manage a decent shot of the sun and moon coming together.

Β  Β  Β Srey-Yuu also tried to get some shots of the lunar eclipse, but it wasn't easy. Even with the brightness reduced all the way in my phone, the images will still coming out blindingly bright. It was much easier to get shots of Srey-Yuu taking shots instead of taking the shots myself, and anyhow, a good excuse to highlight our bananas.

Another Night Of Fire πŸ”₯

vfs.png

Β  Β  Β With a very bright moon in the sky, we made a fire and grilled some sweet potatoes that our neighbors brought over. Anytime there is a fire here, it seems our neighbors will bring sweet potatoes for the occasion. A fire is fun, but if there is something to play with like a burning stick or a sweet potato, then the fun gets turned up to 11, the maximum fun level allowed that I am aware of. Alright, that's all I've got for now folks, to be continued..........

When I think of a fire, I always think about toasting marshmallows. I didn't mention it because I know modern, store-bought marshmallows often have gelatin in them, making them non-vegan. But, that made me wonder if a vegan option existed, so I looked it up and learned "agar powder" can be substituted for a home-made vegan marshmallow! Here is the recipe if you want to take a peek: https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/vegan-marshmallow-recipe Of course, your busy lifestyle might prevent you from making them, but it's something to think about for the future! 😁

I have actually eaten a store-bought vegan marshmallow before, and I must say they weren't bad. Even before my vegan days, as a kid I never cared for marshmallows much, I always thought they were too sweet and felt chalky in my mouth, but I did tolerate them in a SMORE sandwich.

Funny how my kids only know them from movies and shows in English they've seen, so many campfire marshmallow scenes, and it's something they want to reinact, so perhaps it's something I should make happen, and I will document if/when I do.

ah, they've already seen campfire marshmallow scenes in movies & TV shows 😁
I wonder if you can get Graham Crackers in Cambodia... πŸ€”
Or maybe a sweet roti would work, instead! πŸ˜‹

Graham crackers would be another thing we'll have to figure out, and I guess the chocolate too, haha. Rotis poof pretty good on an open fire, perhaps chocolate marshmallow rotis could be a reality.

Maybe she's thinking how could she totally turn the house into messy. That maybe her goal 🀣🀣. She's adorable.

Little Nutsara is a welcome guest in our home, and she is so cute that I'd let her make any mess that she wants, but her bigger brother is quite naughty and much harder to watch 😁

Wow, what an amazing cutting skill for that age

She is pretty good with our mango knife, and I'm also teaching her cutting techniques for the cutting board that will keep fingers free of injury.

Of course, especially holding a knife is not a good thing for a child of that age, and of course you are very careful to monitor his every activity, brother's spirit in carrying out his activities.

an extraordinary opportunity to witness a lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses are a rare natural phenomenon.

The blood moon was also a very cool sight later the same night. The eclipse was too bright to see, even with my polarized sunglasses looking through two tinted windows.

I was very interested when I saw the photo with the banana heart. Seen from there where you live is filled with fresh forest, it makes me very comfortable when I'm in the forest, your place is like mine

I have never owned land before, so those bananas will be first ones I can say I didn't buy or have given to me, such an exciting thought. We feel very blessed to live here, such beautiful surroundings.

In my personal opinion. More comfortable living in a forest area compared to the city

We had a good view of the lunar eclipse, but it hurt my eyes and was impossible to see. Thanks for stopping by my friend.

Children and men are pyromaniac from my experience. Light a fire and they can't help but prod and poke it. And you certainly can't beat potatoes and sweet potatoes in a fire either. Little Nuts are is a cute. So that's 2 neighbourhood children you have partially adopted now.

Yep, agreed, I go full caveman brain when I get near a pleasure fire. Even Nutsara enjoys the fire for about 20 minutes before wanting to go back inside and play. Luckily Nutsara has good parents, so we don't have to constantly worry about her conditions at home. Mey-Yii is a different story, but she doesn't come around anymore because I assume her grandma and mom forbid it or have said bad things about us to make her afraid or distrusting.

Oh, that is such a shame about Mey-Yii. You guys offered such a safe haven for her. Poor girl must miss you all.

This village's social decay is a shame, very frustrating.
