👚 Pajamas By Bus 🚌 The Last Christmas Surprise For Mey-Yii 🎄

Today we received a pajama suit set by bus for Mey-Yii and a few extra pieces for our daughters and neighbor boy Ah Boom.

Online Shopping 🛍️ Cambodian Style 🚚

We had about 14,000៛ or so leftover after our Christmas shopping trip for Mey-Yii, so my wife decided to buy several pajama set suits online, with one specifically purchased for Mey-Yii. The items arrived at the local shipping station about 45 minutes away, so my wife and I rode the moto there to pay the electric bill and pick up the package.

It's very hard to find clothing in Cambodia that isn't made out of some form of plastic, whether it be nylon, rayon, lycra, or polyester, so for 100% cotton, it's easier to shop online than to visit store after store after store in hopes of eventually finding something that feels nice to the touch.

A Proposition For Mey-Yii 🤝

We made sure the pajamas fit Mey-Yii before giving them to her, then took a pic for Hive-vidence. I told her that her Hive Christmas sponsors told me that she should wear her helmet when she rides her grandma's moto aimlessly up and down the highway or next year there won't be any gifts. I told her that I said she has a helmet and chooses not to wear it, and that because we are not her parents we have no control over this situation.

She agreed to wear helmet, smile and left with the goods, then I saw her 10 minutes later flying by at Mach 1 on the moto while driving one-handed, eating chips, staring at our house and smiling while not paying attention to the road ahead while helmet-less. I think at this point it's clear that she doesn't want influence or guidance from us, but as much as I want to stop caring, I don't want to see her involved in a gruesome traffic accident.

Fried Rice, Forget, & Move On 🍚

Ultimately I am a busy man with my own daughters to worry about, so after Mey-Yii left I realized it was time to focus on my family, specifically the hunger of my two daughters. I made some fried rice for dinner with copious amounts of garlic and black pepper, Srey-Yuu's two favorite ingredients.

When I realized Srey-Yuu had dodged every photo of the day in typical teenager style, I asked Monkey-B to lean in for a pic with sister, and you can see how cooperative big sister is. One of my favorite things to do is create new temporary nicknames for my daughters, and one of the best ones in recent memory is "Sreybledore," a name I gave Srey-Yuu after she fell in love with all things Harry Potter.

There have been a few occasions where even my wife has called her Sreybledore, a combo of her name Srey-Yuu and Dumbledore, a character from the books/movies. My daughters have also gone through a "Lord Of The Rings" phase, and only recently I finally convinced them to give the movie "Willow" a chance, a movie so superior that it needs no sequel. Well, the girls loved it, and now I've been calling Srey-Yuu "Madfartigan," a combination of "Madmartigan" and "fart," so I'll close this post with that. THE END

I recently watched Willow, with my 8 year old nephew and 6 year old niece and their parents ( my twinsister and Portugese bro in law ). I then learnt that it's now my nephew's favorite movie. I watched it once with him, before, about a year ago. I used to love it as a kid too!

Try to focus on your own kids, you can only do your best to set an example for others.
shakes his head in disbelief over Mey-Yii's behavior

Willow is legendary, so glad I finally convinced my daughters to give it a chance. Now if only they will watch "The Neverending Story" with me, but so far they think the "flying dog is stupid." Mey-Yii is a tough cookie, and your advice is right, we've got enough going on in our own lives, gotta focus on my own family these days.

Mmm... Sreybledore...🤔
How about Sreytherin, looks nice name for young lady who love driving moto with no helmet and while eating chips. 👍

Sreytherin has a nice ring to it, haha. But Srey-Yuu is my daughter, and she is not the moto rider. Mey-Yii is the one driving the moto helmet-less, she is our neighbor's girl.

"...clothing... that isn't made out of some form of plastic, whether it be nylon, rayon..."

Rayon is made from wood and other plant materials that have been dissolved in a strong alkaline solution (like lye) to make it form strings that can be turned into threads and then cloth. It might not exist as an immediately-usable fiber like cotton or silk, but I certainly would not consider it a form of plastic like nylon and polyester. I know this because rayon has always been one of my favorite fabrics, and I've had others challenge me in the past for wearing a "fake" fabric, so I did some research on it to learn the truth! Love my rayon dresses & skirts!

Fried Rice with garlic and black pepper sounds yummy to me! It's so wonderful that your daughters get along so well together! 😊

Mind blown, I always assumed from the name and the feel of the fabric that rayon was synthetic or at least not completely natural. I have seen it burn before as a kid, and it burned a lot like plastic, perhaps that has to do with the treatment process it goes through, the dyes, etc.

I wouldn't say it's common like polyester and nylon here, but it does exist. I always assumed rayon reached its peak in the 1980s, but for some reason other fabrics replaced it. They are now making fabrics from lotus and bamboo in Cambodia, but so far a t-shirt is $60 USD, so it's not something that poor people are going to be wearing or buying. I assume the high cost is from a labor intensive process.

It seems I have to rotate meals with each daughter, there are only a handful of dishes they both like very much. Of course they have their fighting and bickering moments, but I think compared to other kids they get along pretty well. I am always reminded this when we visit other people's houses and see some off the wall children.

Or Mad Fart Vegan rhyme pretty darn well, considering that's what your family is 🤣

Back to the beginning of the story. Mey-Yii is super pretty. By the look of it, the wildness, riding Moto without helmet single handedly while eating chips, that's exactly the kind of girl I'd fell in love with and had my heart broken in to zillion pieces 🤣 We did what we can(even can't), so it's totally up to her from now on. I guess that will be end of her hive gift journey unless she come and learn to do her own chores and show respect to her own life.

I told Srey-Yuu about this comment, you got an audible laugh, congratulations. I am 100% clown throughout most of the day, but I rarely get laughs from Srey-Yuu. I like how Mey-Yii conveniently comes by at lunchtime, checks out what we're cooking, then when we ask if she's eaten yet, she'll only say "already" if the meal of the day doesn't look delicious. If we have samosas or something special and tasty, she always "hasn't eaten yet." She is a master liar like her mother and grandma, and I sense she will be a black belt manipulator when she's an adult unless she has an ethical awakening.
