Public School At The Thai Border 🏫 & Remodeling Begins On Our Cabin πŸ›–

poh.JPG

The @KidSisters are back in school on the Thai border and my in-laws are staying with us to help remodel the previous owner's poorly built cabin.

School Is Very Far πŸ›Ί

111.JPG

Β  Β  Β It is our only option, but taking my daughters to a very terrible school requires two 1+ hour roundtrip runs in the tuk-tuk, and also $6.00+ USD worth of diesel for the tuk-tuk. I'm not sure how I will be going forward with this situation because I already need to work on Hive 12+ hours a day lately, and I can't even find time to post every day when I factor in needing to help with the cabin occasionally, cook, and do other household chores.

222.JPG

Β  Β  Β Although I'm happy to see the kids in school, the drive wears me out and nearly costs me more than my monthly Hive earnings. And now that I'm too busy to post daily on Hive, I'm working with less while also needing to pay the construction in-laws almost $20 per day. Needless to say I'm panicking a bit, and when I wake up in my computer chair at 3am and walk to the bed, I usually regret not having finished a post.

Pramaoy Is Far Too 🚧

333.JPG

Β  Β  Β I won't mention how terrible the school is, I'll save that for another post, so let's get into the other news, the remodeling of our cabin has begun. We decided to use the walls of the shack/house by the highway to close the cabin's ceiling with wood planks and also build a loft to provide some storage space.

444.JPG

Β  Β  Β The work is slow and steady, and as much as I wish I could help and oversee things a little more, I have to focus on earning so that I can pay them, far more important than making myself available, which time is not even something I have much of the way it is. I've found little time to engage with my fellow Hivers, and that is a huge regret, so I guess this is a public apology.

555.JPG

Β  Β  Β I obviously need to sit down and arrange some kind of time management system, and I think a good first step would be to create an "office space," a place where I can be productive and not interrupted or distracted every few minutes. My family and I have shared a prison-cell sized studio room most of our time together, so I think my daughters subconsciously need to be close to us at all times.

Β  Β  Β They even have their own room now, something they've wanted for so many years, but they're always within arm's reach of me during the day, something that decreases my productivity. Geez, this post turned into a bit of a rant, sorry folks, but not deleting this and starting over, no time for that. Once the cabin project is finished and we find a long-term renter or list it on Air BnB, we'll have some fiat income that will likely change our whole outlook.

Both sisters attending the same school? Nowadays kids are tall mang. I thought Srey-yuu is tall, but when she's around her friends, those kids literally dwarf her 🀨

The place looks good and seems coming along nicely. Let me know if I book my Airbnb in advance will help on fixing the place up quickly.

Same school indeeed. Because this is a rural commune, many of the kids study at lower grade levels than their age. Srey-Yuu is two years behind, but many of her classmates here are much further behind. She even told me there's a 19-year-old boy in her class there.

It goes without saying, but you'd never have to pay a cent if you came here for a holiday with the family. You've contributed so much to my family's livelihood and ASEAN Hive already. Diamond ASEAN Hive VIPs surely stay for free πŸ˜‰.

I think a office space really can help you to be very productive. Good luck and go for it.

I totally agree, I need to make a sacred Hive space somewhere on this property.

I hope so too, but she is entering her rebellious teen years very soon.

Hi hi Justin.. I can imagine the fear financially.. I've been there before.. waking up at night worrying.. I guess, it is the transition phase at the moment to this new place but eventually everything will find its place.

Just take ur time to engage in the community. Health is really important.. not worries about sometimes missing out some updates.. 😜😜 if you really need some break. Or else you'll burn out and it's going to be tough to recover. I've been there too. Waking up at 3am and feeling anxious is something to be careful of. Just enjoy the process. Have a bit of rest. Do your best. Thank you for doing your best.. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

This is very good advice, and I know I should follow it. Of course easier said than done, but I definitely need to start making some little changes each day until I have a reasonable schedule. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I totally agree with what @davidke20 said let us know if you have purchased airbnb

and I also totally agree with what @luueetang says your involvement in the @asean.hive community every day is very important,

but you have mentioned in this post, if your rest hours have been reduced lately,

remember my friend.....
Health is the most important, because health is not sold anywhere.

remember my friend
once again i repeat...

hive power we can buy HBD we can sell.......
while health is not traded anywhere..

This time the investigation is more stringent than the previous one.

Oh yes, if we are neighbors, let me fix the house cabin and you don't have to pay me... hehehe...

I will remember these words. You're very right, I need to make some changes in my daily schedule. "Health is wealth," an expression I love very much, and enough sleep is a huge part of that. I will feel a lot better when we have some fiat income provided by the cabin and possible renters.

taking my daughters to a very terrible school requires two 1+ hour roundtrip runs in the tuk-tuk, and also $6.00+ USD worth of diesel

Wow! That doesn't seem doable on a long term basis. Isn't it possible for you to find a place to live closer to the school? 😲

Our previous town had an acceptable school, but we were living in a $50 rental room and were eager to buy land. I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too, but the commute to school is a necessary sacrifice in order to live here in the mountains. We aim to get a 70cc Honda Cub soon, the savings in petrol costs will pay for the bike after 4 months of using it.

Awww man, I hear you! It is one thing to juggle income and expenses to make ends meet, and it's a whole different story to juggle daily activities to make 24 hours be enough. Honestly, I've always found the latter to be more challenging. But I can only join in with many other commenters, that taking care of your health is top priority, and that includes NOT worrying! (I hope I don't come across as patronizing.)

I personally think your post is good the way it is. In fact, much better than if you had gone back and edited the whole thing to make it less "rant like". This way it expresses your momentary situation perfectly. Kinda like the exact opposite of your posts from Suriname, where you had more time than anything else. So I wouldn't worry about not adding cool gifs, perfect editing, etc. I'm sure your other followers will also understand.

I'm looking forward to some not-so-polished posts about the results of the cabin renovation, and that terrible school of the @kidsisters.

You are right, right, right, no worries. Thank you for being understanding and empathetic, it's certainly a reason I love this platform, and can't even imagine how fake I'd have to be maintain my monetized following on Facebook or YouTube. Hive is for being real, and there are only a few topics I would avoid on this platform, most of them concerning Hive politics.

You've been such a beacon of positivity lately that this post must be a nice reminder to yourself that you're still only human, yet still doing the best you can.

I've been in a situation myself where I've had to drive one of my boys a great distance for the day. I'm lucky in that I've always been able to find a place to hang out nearby, or at least something to do, like a coffee shop and then a park to walk and take photos in; that helps eliminate a round trip.

There are only so many hours in a day, and coffee only goes so far. Good luck! I'm sure something will come through.

There is actually a waterfall near-ish the school that I'd love to visit and share with Hive. Eventually that will happen, but we've already learned we can't rely on people here to be timely and consistent, so more than likely we'll buy a Honda Cub 70 and use that to transport the kids. We've also discussed having one of younger family members to come and live with us, take the kids to school, do other random work during the day, free place to stay, salary, etc. We could use an extra hand like this for at least the first year while we really have to work the land a lot.

The school does look a bit run down. I guess there is no way you can carpool so that you can save time and petrol. I hope that things will work out for the best.

There are some kids in our area that attend this school, so it's just a matter of time before we figure who they are and talk to their parents about carpooling ideas. I'd be glad to take all the kids in our village if I could make it worth my time, but that morning commute really takes away from my early morning creativity when my brain is still fresh.

I think you can bring your gadget to make posts with your phone. The result is not the same as you work with wide screen but at least, the strategy will not make me waiting what interesting stories from you and your family.

The smartest idea would be to have a coffeeshop or internet place where I can set up and work each day. The town where the girls study is very strange though, everything costs 100% more than regular price, and the locals aren't as friendly.

You certainly have alot on your plate. The general theme of comments is to look after yourself and your health. Stress is debilitating to the body so please heed the advice to look after your health. I've been there stress wise and my health failed me. It took me a long time to recover. I don't know what any of us can do to help but we can certainly give you a pass on some of your curator duties to lighten that load a little. Look after yourself.

I have been trying to get my wife and oldest daughter to take a more active role with Hive responsibilities, but at the end of the day, I still need to manage their accounts outside of the posts. I'm totally open to finding an ASEAN Hive member to join the curation team too, but my wife keeps telling me she wants to learn how to do the voting and other things.

Well, for now the cabin project is running our lives. Once we find a renter or list it on Airbnb, that will be a gamechanger, providing us with some fiat to spend locally without having to drive hours to an ATM machine to collect some crypto earnings. Health is wealth, I need to make some changes soon.

I see your problems. I'm sure you're feeling like you're chasing your tail sometimes. Health is wealth is definitely something to live by, and I hope you get that cabin finished and rented out soon to help you on your way.

It would be wonderful if there was some sort of public transport bus to get them there. I recently did a post about how the "commute" was one of the reasons why I was really happy to be away from western society but lo' and behold you've got one anyway!

The irony is not lost on me, especially going up and over the mountain pass in an underpowered ride. In Colorado, I had to drive an hour one way each day to do construction in South Park, my town's highschool basketball rival, and the town the cartoon TV series is based on. That commute was a beautiful one just like here, but every commute gets tiring after doing it 20-30 times.

I had no idea until just now that South Park was a real place :)
