Puu-Mab Planing Wood In Slo-Mo πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ Deck Project Progress πŸ›– & Package #3 Arrives πŸ“¦

Our deck project is nearly finished, we received the missing package from the USA, and I even managed to catch Puu-Mab working in slo-mo.

#3 Package Has Arrived πŸ“¦

Β  Β  Β Acquiring pickets for our fence has slowed down recently, and the speed at which we can install them doesn't match production speed, so I started an open-air deck/bar project to give my in-law construction duo something to do on the off days. The thumbnail is Uncle Mab planing some planks for the floor of the new deck, a mighty fine action GIF if you ask me.

Β  Β  Β The shipping company called a few hours after I arrived home on the same day I picked up two packages to let me know they had misplaced one box, so I had Srey-Yuu pick it up on her way home from school. We were a bit let down at the customer service, but elated to know our #3 packaged hadn't gone missing in transit.

Β  Β  Β Inside this box was a LEGO set, Monkey-B's marble chase, a Harry Potter box set for both of the girls, some coloring books, and a couple boxes of Boxcar Children books. It's clear the Harry Potter books were what Srey-Yuu was anticipating most, and for Monkey-B it was her marble chase set, so package #3 was a pretty big deal.

Β  Β  Β Christmas did come late this year, but if things had come as the freight forwarder indicated, we would've received our items in early January. Sucks to have paid for air freight that turned out to be slower than sea freight, but I am glad to see the kids enjoy some unboxing because we don't go shopping much because we are a bit financially challenged even though I identify as wealthy πŸ˜‚.

Deck/Standing Bar/Dancefloor/Tent Platform β›Ί Which One Is It?

Β  Β  Β It is so nice to see this project cute little thing taking shape. The left and right sides will be roped off to allow potential floodwaters and easy flow over, under, and through this standing deck. But on the river's edge will be a standing bar, a sort of tall rail to place drinks, plates, and stand while watching the river. On the opposite side there will be a long bench with reclined back for easy chillaxing.

Β  Β  Β Campers often come to this area, and it's just big enough for a single tent or two tents if placed closely together, so this little thing will have many uses. People are accustomed to paying $5 a night to rent something like this for tent-pitching, plus it will be a nice roofless space to enjoy good weather evenings. I can also see it as a daytime are for parents to picnic and watch over their children playing in the shallow water directly below. It might even be a makeshift dancefloor occasionally too, the possibilities are endless. That's all for now folks, meant to post this last night but fell asleep at the keyboard.

Funny I never heard of either one when I was a kid, but we lived on a farm and reading books was and is still not popular in the part of the USA I'm from. I did grow up with Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys, hardly exciting compared to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. We will soon be having our first picnic on the deck.....

!LOL You remind me of a great uncle of mine, who is a farmer and has plenty of land, but who has to work his back off... and the stories he has of all the problems farmers are facing.

Haha, I hope we have some backbreaking farm stories one day. For now our land is full of clay so we'll have to grow several cover crops to start breaking up the soil. I have discovered beans do quite well in our soil, and they are nitrogen fixers, so we will probably buy a sack of beans and cover our whole property in them. After letting them grow and die our place will be much more hospitable for gardening/farming.

Oh that's some interesting information. Always good to do research about what's good for your crops and/or soil.
