πŸ‘§ Srey-Yuu πŸ”« Professional Cambodian Water Mister πŸͺ»

My wife and youngest daughter headed to Phnom Penh for a formal party, so Srey-Yuu and I stayed at home and misted the Mothership's orchids.

A Kitty Too πŸˆβ€β¬›

Β  Β  Β In total I guess we were two humans and one cat for several days, and quite busy because we had guests coming to camp as well as Srey-Yuu having to pack a suitcase for a wedding ceremony. Srey-Yuu has to ride around 3-4 hours in a minivan solo to meet her mom and sister for a wedding ceremony in Pursat. She decided to stay with me and only attend the critical days because she didn't want to miss many school days.

🌬️ Chilly In The Cardamoms ⛰️

Β  Β  Β It's now winter in Cambodia, the dry season, and for several days it has been extremely windy and cold on the mountain, but the blue skies are a nice change from the landslides and constant rain. The river is already crystal clear and ankle deep in most places, with a few swimming holes remaining deep enough year round. Soon it will be fire season, where folks try and scorch the national park in order to illegally occupy more land, often melting the power lines in the process and causing blackouts.

Β  Β  Β Sreypov loves her orchids, and despite me not really understanding why people think flowers are beautiful, I made sure Srey-Yuu and I remembered to water spray the orchids daily. The extreme winds here often change in the blink of an eye, and occasionally your water stream gets sent right back into your face, kind of making you feel like a thirsty orchid momentarily.

New Tech Upgrades πŸ“±

hhh.png

Β  Β  Β Although I've been busy with little time to post, I did recently get a secondhand iPhone 12, and the pictures in this post I think are the first ones not to be shot with my iPhone 8. I do notice a difference in picture quality, but I honestly still think my iPhone 8 is fine. Regardless of my feelings, Apple has determined it not to be worthy of future iOS updates and upgrades, and this is how I am forced to upgrade my phone every 4 years or so. I was pretty impressed with the night shot I took of the orchid, my old phone wouldn't have produced any shots this clear.

I have noticed a big difference in picture quality, loving the new secondhand phone. The wife wasn't too happy about kitty sitting on her flowers, but it looks like that habit has already stopped.

Iphone pictures are always neat and nice that is why people love it much but is too costly to avoid. All the photos are beautiful congratulations on your new high phone

Thank you for your comment, not sure what is too costly to avoid though.

It would be nice if Apple's updates would continue to be compatible with its older models, sometimes changing cell phone costs a little bit because of habit or sentimental value but there is no denying that iPhone 12 has improved with the photographs, especially at night.

Apple could easily change this policy, but they would make less profits. It's a shame governments don't take action to prevent these business practices. I don't like making e-waste, but it seems every 4 or 5 years I have to update my phone even though my current phone works just fine.

What a lovely place you have. It's good to see this wonderful nature around us everyday. The mother orchids is very beautiful as it bears more and more flowers.

Thank you, I feel very blessed to live here despite all the hardships that come along with such a remote location.

Safe travels for Sreypov and your youngest daughter. I think you are doing a great job in keeping the orchids hydrated. Great to hear you have your phone upgraded.

They have returned and my wife's plants are not dead, so I'll call it a big success. I'm enjoying the phone upgrade, a little heavy and hard to hold, but I'll get used to it.

What I miss was my ORCHIDS in the Philippines... =(
I will try to find orchids here and propagate them. ^_^

I would bet they are much more expensive where you are than back in the Philippines. We can find them in the forest here, but outside our area, here in Cambodia, orchids generally sale for $5 to $10 USD.

Yes, you are right. It was expensive! ^^
$5 is not bad. ^
