Tiger Belly v. Brendan Schaub Podcast Drama 🔊 I Feel Sorry For Bobby Lee ☹️

bobby.png

One of my favorite podcasters is Bobby Lee, former star on MADtv back in the 1990s, and probably the funniest and most genuine guy I listen to while I'm busy Hivin'.

Do You Remember MADtv?

I realize most of my readers are ASEAN Hivers, so I'm not sure if MADtv was ever aired in SE Asia back in the 1990s, but it was a hit show in the USA, and Bobby Lee was easily one of the funniest characters in this not so politically correct show. He's also a standup comic, and I think he is one of the funniest of all time despite never having released a special.

When I found out Bobby Lee entered the podcast world several years ago, the Tiger Belly Podcast quickly became one of my top 10 to listen to while Hivin'. I 've learned so much about him through this podcast, especially that as a child his father was very abusive to him, and he dealt with a lot of substance abuse and addiction, but he overcame it all.

Bobby Lee Deserves Better

Recently while listening to a Tiger Belly episode, there was a mention of lawsuits and threats, and eventually it came out that Brendan Schaub, another podcaster had potentially threatened to sue Bobby Lee's wife and co-host, Khalyla Kuhn, concerning a comment she made on another podcast about Schaub trying to pick her several years ago. He was married to his current wife at the time, so it can be assumed this was the reason for the alleged lawsuit threats.

While I didn't know much about Khalyla Kuhn or Brendan Schaub, I was familiar with both of them because they co-host podcasts with other people that I follow. Well it is bizarre how much this little beef unraveled, causing a major riff in the podcast world. Apparently before all of this even happened, Schaub admitted on a podcast that Joe Rogan cheats on his wife, and later used litigation to remove these clips from YouTube.

I've never been a big Joe Rogan fan because he never seemed like a genuine person to me, and he seems more focused on hawking his own company's supplements and vitamins and pushing his political agenda than making a good podcast these days.

All of this drama between Brendan and Khalyla eventually ended up with Brendan coming on the Tiger Belly podcast to hash things over. After listening to the episode, I came away with a distaste for both Brendan and Khalyla, and feel Bobby Lee deserves a better partner. Khalyla controlled the conversation, never apologized, and Brendan seemed to be full of misleading information.

The worst of it all is that Bryan Callen, one of Brendan's co-hosts, called Bobby and made physical threats. Brendon claimed that "his team" had traced an IP address back to Bobby Lee's house that was used on Reddit to trash Brandon for over 6 years, but didn't share the alleged proof with them.

After taking the time to watch the YouTube version, when Brendan mentioned the IP address being traced back to Bobby's house, Khalyla appeared very uncomfortable, and somehow I feel there is more to this story. Schaub no longer seems like a straigh-shootin' all-American boy and Khalyla's friendly Filipina demeanour now seems fake and manufactured. She never mentioned forcing Bobby Lee to be in open relationship in the past, and it's rumored that Khalyla and Brendan were having an affair in 2019.

I don't follow film/tv celebrities, mostly because I haven't owned a television for 20+ years, and podcasts are basically my main source of entertainment, news, comedy, etc., so I went down the rabbit hole on this one. All in all, in the end Bobby Lee ultimately seems to be betrayed by his friends and his partner. As much as I love the Tiger Belly and The King and the Sting and the Wing podcasts, I'm now gonna have a hard time listening to both because I feel Brendan and Khalyla are very ingenuine people.

That's my ramble for today, no pictures for a post, stuck behind the computer all day, apologies for a break from my normal content.

Do you suppose they are airing their dirty linen in public just to get listeners for their podcasts? From what you say, they seem to have made several episodes about it already. Nothing like a feud to generate material.

I think Khalyla was just trying to have something good to talk about on one of her gossip podcasts. Compounded with the fact that a lot of celebrities struggle with fidelity, and also that she forced Bobby Lee to be in an open relationship with her several years back. Seems like she was trying to make herself look good, but it came back in her face. She also got a lot of hate a long time ago when she said she wouldn't have married Bobby Lee if he didn't have money.

Brendan Schaub, I don't know too much about, but he's an MMA fighter who crossed over to standup comedy, but he's not that funny. He gets a lot of hate on the internet, and he takes it to personal, so he's started a lot of lawsuits. It's a shame Bobby Lee has put up with friends and partners like this because he's such a nice and genuine guy.

Hi hi.. what a nice intro to Bobby Lee.. I have maybe seen some content by him but not much here. During the 90s, the internet here was pretty bad and there wasn't a lot of choices for American channels like nowadays because at that time one company had a monopoly on all cable TV here until the fast internet came and disrupted it. Wow.. I've read your post but haven't dug into the drama between him and his wife but from the way you wrote it, I do feel he needs a better partner. Have a great day.. =) enjoyed.

He was born in the USA of Korean immigrant parents, and he's had a crazy life. His parents were very traditional, so you can imagine how upset they were with him when didn't do good in school and wanted to work in comedy. He's been a standup comic for 20 years and never released a special because he doesn't think he's good enough. He's definitely one of my top 10 favorite comics despite never having a one-hour special.

I wonder what the Malaysian standup scene is like? So many languages and cultures there, I would think a comic would only appeal to certain religions, ethnic groups, etc. Perhaps English is the language of choice for comedy there. I think Ronny Chieng is Malaysian, he lives and works in the USA now, have you heard of him?

Hahahhaha.. Justin.. the Malaysian one is definitely something different. I will write a post about it... one guy you will definitely know is Uncle Rogers. Malaysian comedy is roasting others. Hahaha.. just like American ones but with an adjustment to culture.

Asian parents want kids to be able to have good jobs to be able to brag to their friends. But it's a pity that Bobby doesn't have his own show yet.

Brenda Shaub is a walking talking thumb. Dislike that guy immensely. Sucked in the ring, sucks on his podcast, sucks at standup. Surrounded by "yes men."

I realize most of my readers are ASEAN Hivers, so I'm not sure if MADtv was ever aired in SE Asia back in the 1990s, but it was a hit show in the USA,

Wait... does ASEAN mean A South East Asian?

Two days ago I was wondering what it meant lol

I'm gonna use "talking thumb" again someday, thanks for that. I didn't know who Schaub was until he started a podcast with Theo Von, one of the funniest comics in my opinion. I have listened to that podcast ever since because of Theo Von, but I've never thought Brendan Schaub was very funny. He is a better podcaster than a standup though. The funniest thing I've heard is that accidentally revealed Joe Rogan cheats on his wife as a guest on someone else's podcast, and then he sued to have that video taken down. Oops!!

ASEAN is like the EU of SE Asia, stands for Association Of SouthEast Asian Nations. I do sometimes use it interchangeably with Southeast Asia, but I guess that's not geographically correct.

There are parts of China further south than Vietnam, but China's not a member despite southern parts of China having a very SE Asian lifestyle and climate. Also, Hong Kong is not a member but often referred to as Southeast Asia. Papua New Guinea is not a member, and not culturally SE Asian, but geographically right there with Indonesia.

The main thing for ASEAN is trade and visa-free travel between member states, even though Singapore doesn't really grant Cambodians the freedom that Cambodia grants Singaporean tourists. I guess the EU is a lot like this, in theory members are equals, but the paperwork shows otherwise.

Oh wow, that's really cool I didn't know about ASEAN. I thought it was something made-up for hive that all the SE Asians could easily rally behind and find likeminded content. I suppose it is that too, just without the "made-up" part!

Seems like he never gets a break in his social life, but his podcasting career is pretty successful.

I've never been a listener of podcasts but reading your blog and then the comments made has stirred up some interest for me. Might just check this podcast thingy out.

True crime and comedy are my go-to genres. It's so nice to have your eyes free to engage in other things, and because I don't get to speak English with native speakers all these years, so hearing really good humor in English is a nice escape.

If you like humor and true crime mixed together, Last Podcast On The Left is a good one.
