🎣 Trash Fishin' In Front Of Public School 🚯 & Other Unrelated Events 🛺
While waiting for the girls to get out of school today, I noticed a little boy using his toy truck for bait in the trash-filled ditch.
Fishin' For a Bacterial Infection 🎣
While waiting for the girls to get out of school yesterday, I backed the tuk-tuk into my usual spot and noticed a boy tying a string to his toy truck. He is of age that he should've been in uniform and in school at that time, but little man was determined to use his truck to do some fishing in the trash-filled ditch between the school and the highway. Hopefully he didn't catch a disease, because this ditch is the place to pee, toss dead snakes, and also dump trash.
One Warrior Onboard 🛺
On the way back to Steung Kach, most of the kids usually grab a bar and pass out in the first 15 minutes. I am amazed at the contorted positions they are able to sleep in, but because it's easy to slide out of the tuk-tuk, I often turn around and make sure no passengers are flirting with disaster. 50% of the time I turn around when driving home, I find our youngest passenger wide awake and keeping herself entertained.
Home Again 🏞️
After dropping all the kids off, I was looking forward to my half-day of rest. The wife was busy collecting rocks for some potted plants down at the river, so I decided this would be a convenient excuse to drive the Honda Cub a 100 meters. I kind of regret buying the bike because she hasn't bothered to learn how to ride it, and it's now on the list of things I must maintain and check periodically. It might find a second life when we finish the cabin, as some guests may want to explore the area independently, and renting the Cub out could be a good idea.
Me and Monkey-B played around on the Cub a bit, and then I told her to help mom with the rocks project. I took the opportunity to gather photos for a Hive post, knowing my time away from work is always limited. In 5 minutes I wandered around and took various photos while regretting not having the time be in these waters every day.
Crossing Over 🌊
I forded the river for some different photo angles, and while on the other side I realized it will take a long time for the natural swimming pool to reform itself.
The area where the swimming pool used to be is now full of sediment logs, and rocks. This is kind of a good thing though, because now this area is no longer suitable for swimming, but the flood delivered us a new patch of chest-deep water, so we now have the swimming pool on our section of the river.
Touch Me Not 🌿
The touch-me-not plant is common in our area, and I never get less amazed with how quickly the leaves furl after being touched, or in this case, rained on from above.
Nice Rocks Yo' 🪨
I needed a few goofy pics to keep things lighthearted, so I asked Pov to show me what rocks are. Believe it or not, she cooperated and showed me some rocks 🤣.
Monkey-B was more concerned with having fun, can't blame here, we haven't been swimming for far too long. Just as I finished the above photo, Mey-Yii was shouting "the vegetable van is here!" I quickly dashed up the cliff and hopped on the Cub.
I needed to rush up to the highway and tell the van to stick around because we needed to stock up on goods. Before jetting off, I took one last photo to close this post. It feels good to make some intentional Hive content instead of sharing a few pics each day from a frantically busy lifestyle.

Hallo MR @justinparke,how are you today hope you are fine today.I think this kid really likes fishing even though he only uses the car he hasI don't think he will get anything, but I will wish him luck next time.a natural swimming pool filled with many rocks, but you have to be careful because there are many rocks that we are afraid of colliding when we swim in the pool. I like classic motorbikes and the motorbike you use is very cool in my opinion,
And most importantly your children look very happy today, have fun.
Little man was having some fun despite how nasty the ditch is. I wish the parents and students wouldn't throw their trash in the ditch, it's quite clear the school isn't able to teach the value of having a clean environment for future generations 🙁.
I like the SuperCub very much, just wish I had more time to ride it. It's such a strong and reliable bike.

It is a beautiful place to live, I only wish I had more time to enjoy it. I wish I could say our household is harmonious, but we have our share of problems like everyone else. I choose to share the good moments on Hive 😂.
I used to do this when I was a child, I would tie something to a rope and do mischief like fishing in drains or where water collects.
I am guilty of this too, but luckily I grew up in the countryside where the water is a little cleaner than in the cities.
I salute the child who is fishing for trash with his car, it is a very noble job for the sake of natural cleanliness. But what I regret is why he doesn't go to school. Even though a child his age is studying in school. Thank you for sharing the information.
I would rather see this boy in school, but usually kids wandering around like this during the day have lazy parents or a house filled with addictions like gambling and alcoholism.

I remember those Touch me Not plants back home, they actually call it "Makahiya" or in English shy. Whenever I pass by those kinds of plants I make sure to touch them hahahaha

There are so many parasites and bacterial infections plaguing Cambodia, and it's a shame the school puts zero effort into scientific and environmental education. The attitude of most teachers is still to hit the ones that can't copy information fast enough, teach the minimum required government curriculum, and rush home to quickly forget about teaching and teacher responsibilities. Teachers here have so much freetime they often have several sidebusinesses and other jobs to distract them, such a bummer.
I love hearing the various names for the touch-me-not plants, it's usually always a creative or cheeky name.
That's really sad, I guess that's also happening in some place in the Philippines also.
That sucks that the teachers don't have the passion for their profession, school is like a 2nd home and that's where children are molded to become better people in society.

Is the little boy did not go to school, or was he not sent to school by his parents, because it could be a "broken home" factor like what happened to Mey-Yii. But I hope I don't.. And I hope the little boy doesn't get sick by playing fishing in a ditch that is dirty and full of garbage like that..
Hahaha .. yes the plant has a little sharp thorns on the side of the stem, and between the stems there is also a pink flower crown. if it is touched, then he will immediately bow down and fold his own leaves. In our area, Aceh-Indonesia, this plant is called "Putri Malu" 😅

Not sure about the little boy, but usually kids like this have parents full of problems like alcoholism, gambling, and in some cases, hard drug addictions. I wish he knew the dangers of playing in putrid water, I wanted to tell to be careful not to touch his eyes until he washes his hands with soap and water.

Yes, I hope the little boy understands the dangers of playing in dirty water. oh God it's really sad to imagine the life of a child who should be at that age now he is with his friends at school to study, but because his family life is full of problems, in the end he is the victim 😢

I miss the freedom sometimes of just me, a motorbike, and a cheap rental room. Living so simply provided me with much economic freedom and freetime.
This entire post already took my mind off work for couple of minutes. And even replying to this message, I still have running water across my mind from your river. I am not even thinking if this is an intentional hive content, reading this post and the picture is already a vacation 🤘
More and more I would like to run a waterproof microphone to the river and install a speaker in the house to amplify the sound, it is very soothing. Eventually I'd like to build a man cave hut closer to the water so I can have a work space where I Hive and can also take occasional swims while working long hours. If I can't change the situation, perhaps I could make it more enjoyable 🤔.
