My youngest daughter's first steps [ES-EN]

Hi dads, today is a good day to tell you something that makes me very happy, as parents we are very excited about the things that our children achieve, no matter how old they are, it will always make us happy. Last month my youngest daughter turned one year old, I can't believe how fast time goes by, I still see her as that little baby that was smaller than my forearm, now my arms hurt when I carry her because she is a little bigger.

But well, both my daughter's mother and I were worried because she had not yet begun to take her first steps, as we both have children we made the mistake of comparing the children that if one learned at 9 months, the other at 8, but worried we thought that none of our children had reached a year without knowing how to walk. This as parents worried us a lot a few days we had to be aware of anything in time, so we spent some days trying to make her walk or in other words pushing her.

We did not succeed so we got more desperate and the concern increased more and more, then it was time to go to the baby doctor, the pediatrician. Here it is not so easy, in fact she thinks that not everyone has the habit of taking their babies to the pediatricians where we live, so we had to wait a few days for my pay at work to be able to take her, but meanwhile all we did was to think about it and make our minds, or imagine things that could be negative.

After a few days we finally raised the money and managed to take her to a consultation that we concluded was the best decision we could make because otherwise we would still be in the same situation, the pediatrician told us that everything was fine with my baby, healthy and learning. When he told us those things we both could finally breathe again, he recommended us not to despair and that the baby would probably be taking her first steps soon, we should not put pressure on her because if she was not sure then she could be afraid and well this would prevent her from taking the steps.

And well, the doctor was right those days the baby would grab the furniture and stand up, trying to walk and would take a few steps holding on from one side to the other. This time we let her decide for herself when it was time, although we did not stop trying to cheer her up or encourage her to come closer to me or her mom and dare to take those long awaited steps, several days passed but this time we were calmer because of what the doctor had said, and as you can imagine after a few weeks it happened.

My baby took his first steps and the best of all and what I am thankful for, is that what I feared so much did not happen and that was not being present, because I have told you before that I work different shifts and sometimes I have to work during the day and other times all night. But just that day it was my turn to work the night shift and I spent the day at home, I witnessed the moment and I was very happy for her, after the excitement of the moment passed a little, I remembered how difficult is the stage of children at that age when they learn to walk, so again we will have to run after a child.

We will leave the tremendous things for a future publication, I can only say that as a parent we must be patient with our children and understand that they are different from each other. Each one has not only their own way of being but also their own time to do things and it is not right to compare them, that hurts them and even us too.

So although we must be aware of how the little ones are growing we should not despair or worry when they do not do the same things their siblings did at that age, but more than anything if something worries us it is best to visit an expert, in this case a pediatrician.

This is a beautiful and heart warming experience. Your fears and concerns were genuine, deep and worrisome. It takes a strong parent to accept the possibility of such fears becoming a real.... and this, we do not pray for. I'm glad you got in touch with the pediatrician and your fears reduced. That first step from your lovely daughter really touched me (reading this piece), so I wonder how you would have felt... it'll surely be an indescribable feeling. I hope you share such wonderful experiences often with us on threads: alpha.leofinance.io, I'm sure the Motherhood Leo Curators would appreciate your presence and use of #fatherhood #dad #parent or other related tags when you share such lovely threads 🥰
