I have been summoned to a New World!

A seagull screeched, followed by the moans of the ghostly dead. Shipwrecked. Marooned. Washed ashore and left to dry -- to die -- upon the summer sands. Kaelci wiggled her fingers, one at a time, then slowly sat upright and shook herself back to life.

This new land, this New World, would not be where she died. Not today, at least.

New World is finally upon us! I feel as though I've been waiting forever. Yesterday was the slowest of days as the hours, minutes and seconds all ticked by.

Here in Australia, the servers didn't launch until 9pm, and of course there were queues upon queues upon even more queues! I'm not a night owl and my partner is working day shift this week, so, we went to bed at 10pm and didn't get a chance to set foot into this New World.

This morning we woke up early to get a little playtime in before he started work, and the server we had chosen still had queues. At 5 in the morning! Insane.

So we chose a different server. One of the ones that must've been rolled out during the early hours because they weren't originally in the list of servers. Lemuria. At least it sounds nice. More importantly, THERE'S NO QUEUE. Apparently each server can only hold about 2000 people... think they're gonna need more servers, until hype dies down.

We made it to the first town of our region before my partner had to start work, and so, I've dedicated my First Day In-Game to a whollleeeee lot of profession-doing!

I love the gathering and crafting in this game so much. I'm going to become a master craftswoman and no-one can stop me! Muahahaha!

I even started dabbling in Fishing -- the one gathering skill I didn't really have a look at during the beta. I'm really enjoying it so far! It's slower to level than the other skills, but it's relaxing and enjoyable.

And I guess I'm not the only one who thinks so!

There was even someone in chat asking if they could just fish and do absolutely nothing else and still level. The answer is, "Yep, slowly but surely."

Plus, you can find treasure! Everybody loves reeling in some treasure. 😄

In non-fishing gameplay news, I decided to go with the Syndicate faction.

From what I can tell, all factions are absolutely identical except for symbol and colour and appearance. There are no benefits one way or the other of joining a particular faction. Unless you count a minuscule difference in weapon perks.

Syndicate weapons have 8% more damage and 10% more crit chance. I forget what the others have. But there are other, better, higher gear-score weapons and whatnot out there in the game that are acquirable by other means than PVP so the weapon perk isn't really that important in my opinion.

I chose Syndicate simply because I like the plague doctor appearance. 😁 Which I probably won't obtain for a long time whilst I focus on crafting and gathering rather than pvp and "proper MMO things."

My biggest complaints at the moment with this game...

• Switching weapons isn't as seamless as could be. I changed my switch weapon button to Tab and whilst I can press it with ease, half the time I need to press it 2 or 3 times for it to register that I'm weapon switching. A bit annoying in the middle of combat where things are hurting me and I'm trying to put my bow away and bring out my rapier for close combat.

• I can't go into first person mode. Now, I have no interest in playing in first person, but I like to take scenic screenshots and how it is at the moment, my person is going to be in every screenshot I take. Ugh.

• Queues. Amazon KNEW how many people were interested in this game and, despite the evidence in Beta, still made the servers incapable of holding a decent population. And didn't prepare enough servers. Such a pain in the butt.

I know, I know. First world problems.
(I really hate that saying, by the way.)

Other than that though, I am highly enjoying myself! 😊
