[Let's Play] Starfield, part three

In my previous post, Elsie had made it to the planet Jemison and had landed in the city of New Atlantis. After delivering the strange artifact to Constellation, she had felt a strange feeling she had never felt before — the excitement of discovering mysteries and the yearning to understand them.

Sarah had invited her to join Constellation and officially become a member of the explorer's group, and Elsie had immediately said yes.

Now that she was a member of the group, she formally introduced herself to the other members and a woman named Noel — who seemed to be the group's lead scientist — happily showed her around the Lodge and gave her her very own room.

image.png

The bed in that room was the finest thing she had ever laid her back upon. She could get used to this!

As well as Noel, there was Walter and Matteo. Walter was the CEO of a spaceship company and was the one funding all of Constellation, and Matteo was a scholar. Apparently there were a few other members of Constellation too, and Elsie would meet them in time.

Elsie had been worried about money, but it turned out that becoming a member of Constellation was quite lucrative indeed. There were many missions available, fully funded, and she could engage with this new feeling of Curiosity that now swelled within her.

Her parents, who she was funding, would still be able to live in the luxury they had grown accustomed to during their retirement.

Her parents — she needed to see them while she was here!

image.png

As Elsie prepared to leave the Lodge and re-enter the more modern environment of New Atlantis, Sarah pulled her aside. As she was the newest member of Constellation, Sarah was going to accompany her on an important mission. A possible location of another artifact had been discovered.

Elsie agreed to get started on the mission soon, but first she needed to see her parents.

image.png

Her parents were living in the family residential suites at the top floor of Pioneer Tower.

image.png

At first they were worried that Elsie had come to tell them some bad news, but she quickly allayed their fears - she was working with Constellation now! She had gone from business woman to dusty miner to newly-fledged explorer... with pay!

Everything was going to be okay — better than okay!

image.png

Elsie spent some time with her parents, had dinner with them, and then as they started whinging at one another as those in long-term relationships seemed to do, she bid farewell.

It was time to begin her new life as an explorer of Constellation!

image.png

First though, before going back to the Lodge and informing Sarah that she was ready to roll, Elsie went to the commercial district of New Atlantis and went clothes shopping.

image.png

Dressed in nice clothes, no longer covered in the dust of mining for Argos Extractors, Elsie felt ready and raring to go. Like a real woman once more and not just a nobody with a mining laser.

Although... from what she had discovered at the Lodge, that mining laser know-how would come in handy. With Constellation's guidance she could construct outposts, craft mods, all sorts of things! And to do that, she would need materials, harvested by her own hand.

image.png

When Elsie got back to the Lodge, she was surprised to find her mum and dad there, talking with Noel! Apparently her father had bribed them with cookies so they could come in and wait for her return.

Turning to her, her father pulled a pistol out of his pocket and handed it to her. Apparently it had once belonged to Livingstone himself and he'd had it cleaned up for her in commemoration of her joining Constellation. It was a very thoughtful gift and she thanked her dad profusely.

image.png

Out in the gardens, Sarah waited for her. Elsie told her that she was at last ready to begin their first mission together.

Sarah mentioned that she had given a description of the strange artifacts to a few people including some members of the UC military. One of those people, a Commander in the Vanguard, had informed her that he may have picked up a rumour involving one of the artifacts.

Their first mission together was to find this artifact, and while doing so, Sarah would be evaluating Elsie to make sure she truly was Constellation material.

image.png

Suddenly paranoid that Sarah wouldn't like her on their adventure, Elsie was determined to do everything she could to prove to Sarah that she was worthy of joining this group. Her parents were so proud of this accomplishment! She couldn't let them down.

The Commander greeted Sarah like an old friend then eyed Elsie up and down... the Vanguard were hiring if she wanted to join up, help the galaxy, do her bit, perhaps become a proper citizen of the wondrous United Colonies. Elsie declined for now, but kept the knowledge in the back of her mind.

image.png

The Commander told Sarah that one of his patrolmen in the Sol system had been boasting about a strange metal thing he had found that matched up with Sarah's description. They could find the patrolmen on Mars, likely drinking at the bar.

They thanked the Commander and raced to Constellation's ship, the ship that Vasco had brought her here on. It was time to visit the home of humanity, where it had all began: the Sol system.

image.png

It wasn't long before the ship made it to Mars. Flying around the planet, they located the mining colony of Cydonia and landed the ship.

It was time to hunt for another artifact!

Until next time!! 😊🔥🚀

I really don't mean to be rude but that one guy with the squinty eyes looks very weird 😂😂

Does this game have a set plot or do you just make things up as you go?

Yep, he's my character's dad, haha! Bethesda generated him based on my own character's appearance... and it looks awful. XD Her mum turned out much nicer. Her mum looks just like her!! But she got her dad's eye colour. Thankfully not the rest of his weird face. :P

It's a Bethesda game, lol. It has a main story, and a million sidequests, and your own roleplay capabilities. :) The posts I've written so far are the beginning of the main story.
