Queens Park, Maryborough ~ in Black & White

Today is Thursday! Which is Market Day in my little town... which means hundreds more people than normal hanging around our tourist trail, but somehow I managed to avoid most of them. Muahaha.

Hundreds of people hanging around? During a pandemic? What is this madness?

Nah, it's not madness. This particular region hasn't had a single Covid case. We don't have to wear masks if we don't want to, we're not locked down in our homes, blah blah blah. We do have a few basic restrictions, but nothing that stops the crowds from crowding about.

A pity, really. I don't like crowds. 😂 I miss the very first days of the pandemic where people were too scared to stand right behind you. Ahhhh, personal space!!

I received my first Pfizer Covid vaccine yesterday and my partner had an appointment for his first one today. Neither of us have grown another head yet. 🤣

My appointment yesterday took about 50 minutes overall so I assumed it would be around the same for him, so, instead of waiting in the car for nearly an hour I decided to roam around Queens Park with my camera.

There was just one problem...

...I forgot to put my memory card back in my real camera after the last lot of photos I took, and when I went to take my first photo a big red error popped up on the LCD screen!

2.jpg

Woops.

So I had to use my phone camera instead. 😞

And because I used my phone camera which has a poorer image quality than my pretty Nikon, I decided to over-edit my few photos and turn them all black and white!

I only really like black and white photography when there are nice contrasts, but I tried.

I'm not entirely sure I did justice to these particular photos but they've taken me nearly 8 hours to play around with and I'm somewhat proud of them.

I feel like I need to play around with my program a little bit more and learn about a few of the functions.

With these photos: I adjusted brightness and contrast, fiddled around with shadows and midtones and highlights, and spent a fair chunk of time painstakingly softening a few backgrounds since my phone camera doesn't seem to have any depth of field. And added the vignettes because whilst I know most people try to remove them, with black and white photos I think a vignette looks nice.

Personal preference, I guess. 😅

Anyway, I hope you like these photos!

I've already retrieved and put my memory card back into my Nikon so I don't forget next time. 😂 I was so disappointed that I forgot that today!! But at least my phone's camera isn't terrible.

Thanks for stopping by. 😊❤️

I forgot my memory cards once. That was it. After that I started to keep a minimum of 2 in my camera gear at all times just in case I mess up and forget again. They aren't super fast cards, but fast enough for me to not miss the shot!

I'm glad your area hasn't been too affected by the Covid and that the both of you are able to get your vaccines. It's amazing that it's still rolling out worldwide when we got ours in Februry. Maybe us in Nunavut were the Guiney Pigs....

If we were, the 5G update didn't work, 'cause my phone is still using 4G LTE 😅

Haha! xD I am never forgetting my memory card again! I'm lazy and have a little gnome statue on my desk that holds the card for me after I upload photos to the computer... must remember to ignore him and pop it straight back into the camera.

With the vaccine rollout, Australia has been painfullyyyyyy slow. First all of the elderly were to be jabbed, alongside healthcare workers and their families. But there was also a delay and shortage when it came to Pfizer yet an excess with Astrazeneca. I'm prone to blood clots so didn't want the Astra and was happy to wait for the Pfizer.

Under 40-yr olds were finally allowed to be vaccinated as of the start of September, but the Pfizer supply is still low so I got in quick before it all disappeared, haha. With how our government is, we're not likely to get any more Pfizer doses til five years from now. 🙄
