Starbound — a hardcore survival adventure, part 3

In my last post The Doomed One defeated the evil that lay within the Erchius Mining Facility and at last repaired her starship!

With the galaxy at her fingertips, she ventured forth through the starter solar system, made a quick little farm, upgraded her gear, and now we're on the search for a nice-looking planet to call home.

Before leaving the system, I thought I'd visit the space station to see if there were any more quests that had appeared. A bear wanted a toy bear made for his son, and there was a Wanted poster, searching for people willing to be Peacekeepers in the galaxy!

The toy bear required a lot of cotton which I used up in my tungsten armour creation, but I kept note of it for when I had cotton stockpiled again.

I hopped onto my ship and set forth for the guy who wanted Peacekeeper friends!

Pretty cool music played during this little scene. I liked it!

Captain Noble asked me, as the only surviving Protector, to also become a Peacekeeper — basically, a bounty hunter. Sure, why not? I thought to myself, and joined the flashy young sun-man.

I accepted his first bounty quest. The first person he sought was located in this very system we were in.

Since I had only just arrived in the system and hadn't explored it yet, I decided to go to the bounty planet last and explore the other ones first.

The first planet was a desert planet. It was time to brave the sand, dust, and wind storms!

There were a couple of fox people where I landed on the planet, but they didn't seem very interesting.

And then I found a Big Ape compound! Back when I last played this, I used to collect all the Big Ape propaganda for my own base. But now that they've seemed to add "stealing" and villager anger into the game, I decided not to just steal everything in the compound.

That was, until I found a few fridges in a few of the houses... fridges are, of course, the best way to store food without it going bad in an hour or so! I need fridges.

This time, I decided to test if the villagers could see my stealing if the doors were closed and no-one was inside to witness. It worked. The fridges were mine. Muahaha!

Now that I know I could steal things as long as no-one was around, I decided to not just loot this place clean. I don't have a base to store all the things yet and don't have enough storage. I would be back later. 😈

One of the Big Ape worshippers had a quest for me! His girlfriend was missing and the last place she was seen was in a sewer. Could I please find her and return her to the compound?

That sounded easy enough, so I accepted his quest. It was to the west, which was the way I came from, but I decided to keep going east. I would come full-circle soon enough and I was still exploring.

But then... another Big Ape worshipper ran over and gave me another quest.

Apparently the sewers weren't that safe after all. 😬

I accepted it, just on the possibility I could do it. Would this be the end of my hardcore adventure? Before I even made a nice house? I was determined to be very, very careful. And keep looting the crates in these people's houses in case they had a good gun!

Dayum these people have a lot of quests for the sewer!

There was really no choice. I would have to do it. Since this last quest was from a merchant, I decided to check out their store too. They had gear the same level as that which I was already wearing, and while they had an average sword, they didn't have a gun! Boo.

I sold them all of my crap and continued onward. Hoping for a gun. I found a few molotovs in the crates around the place, but those wouldn't last long. Eek!

The last building in the compound had an MM Component in one of the desks. With that component, I had enough to upgrade my tool. I can now mine things a little faster! Woo!

I found a couple of small groups of evil cultists once I left the Big Ape compound. They had guns, but they were no match for this new spear I picked up in a random crate in the compound.

With this new spear, I can use my energy to make a little electric barrier for protection, then stab at the enemy through the barrier. That's cool!

I also found this abandoned desert house which had a spiffy statue in a chest inside. That's going to go in my new house if I survive the sewers and found a new planet to call my home!

On my journey, I found some glowing water. Curious as to why it was glowing, I slurped some up with my tool and apparently it was healing water!

That could come in handy. I proceeded to take every drop of healing water I could see for my own selfish purposes. xD

I soon came across this foreboding looking building. I wasn't sure if this was the fabled sewers or not, but it certainly looked as though it could be.

Inside I was greeted by muck monsters and slimes and little evil jumping poos. 😂🤣

I think the time has come. I think I have found the sewers. Will I survive this disgusting place with sentient poops? Will I rescue the people that have been lost down here and kill the evil rogue soldier who made herself an enemy of the Big Ape worshippers?

We will have to wait and see!

Until next time! 😊
