Starbound - the new hardcore survival adventure, pt 7

In my last Starbound post, Autumnia fixed her food supply issues, at last finished the blacksmithing area of the base, and has pretty much completed the hidden dungeon she decided to hide beneath her home. Priorities, right? 🤣

Now we're on an adventure to find some Big Ape genetic scientists to steal all of their modern technology and some Big Ape worshippers to steal their retro furniture for a nice lounge and kitchen area.

I don't really want to quest and stuff until this home is complete, so let's get moving! I intend to finish my base in this post and then get to more interesting things. xD

I zoomed off to another random system embracing a Temperate star and started exploring the planets. I went to a snowy world first as there seems to be quite a few small research bases on these planets, so maybe I'll get lucky and find a larger one too.

I landed right next to an igloo and the man inside immediately called Autumnia out. "There must be something you need on this planet otherwise you wouldn't come here!"

Too right. xD

Then I found one! Woohoo. Just a tiny research base but that's a good start.

As I continued further on the planet, I found this crystal biome — the first I've ever come across!

I couldn't loot the big crystals, they just shattered upon attempted theft, but under the ground buried in the snow were prism crystals I could take. Distracted by shinies, I combed through the snow for every crystal I could find before I finally remembered what I was doing and got back on track. 😅

I didn't find anything else worthy on that planet, but on another planet I found these cool pants. 😂🤣 Nah, I'm not going to wear them, but I thought they were hilarious, haha!

I found a slightly larger research facility on another planet, and stole the fluorescent lights. But I still need to find a biigggg research facility!

In this random mushroom house, I found some kitcheny looking things, however the mushroom guard wouldn't leave me alone so I could grab them in private. So I walled up the house with dirt then stole them. 😜

Hopefully they'll fit nicely in my future kitchen!

While hunting for nice objects on various planet, an evil group of Avian decided to hunt me!

Apparently they were seeking revenge for their ancestors. I had nothing to do with that! Either way. I defeated them. And now their descendants will have something more to seek vengeance about. xD

At last I found one of that which I sought! A friendly Big Ape compound. It was time to loot all the things so I could have a nice kitchen. 😁

Now all I need is to find an evil Big Ape compound with the evil scientists.

But first, it was back to the base to get to work on my lounge and kitchen.

I now have a proper cooking area in my base! Which is nice. Because previously I was gathering all my cooking materials down here, then zooming off to the space station to use their cooking facilities.

You can make different foods depending on the cookware used. A campfire will allow you to cook some basic foood, but the kitchen cooking station will allow you to cook better, more nutritious foods! Like Shepherd's Pie and Stew and stuff. Mmm, yummy.

After going through various things I looted, I discovered that I had more than enough items to start making my little tech area.

This is where all of my main storage will be too, since I discovered that massive storage container earlier on.

It all seems to be coming together quite nicely. 😊

Now I needed a workshop type area to store the rest of my crafting tables in, then complete my base by actually giving it a roof!

20221026162312_1.jpg

The little workshop was just a quick and easy build and I threw all the crafting tables in there. I'll beautify it later. 😅 One of the tables is a newly created Fossil/Archaeological table which will enable me to restore various things. Obviously I'm going to have to create a museum area too.

Unfortunately, thanks to me deciding to be all whacky with the room shapes, I couldn't really work out a roof to pop on top. So, this is fine. This will do. I have a place to call home! I have crafting tables in their own spots! I have a kitchen to make delicious food! I have a farm to grow delicious food!

I'd like to expand the farm at some point and get some animals 😊😊 but for now, I'm considering this complete.

It's time to get back to being a Galaxy Saving Floran. It's time to get back to upgrading my gear, participating in quests, and making Autumnia as strong as she can be!

Let's see what the future holds. Let's go!

Until next time! 😄

Geez, you are building a mansion xd, how crazy.

Death to all who go against your cause 😎

Hahaha you're doing pretty great, seriously at your pace, enjoying the game, the gameplay and doing what you want, it's great to read you, your encouragement is contagious!

When I last played this game it was with a friend and we built a proper mansion in that world!! It was fantastic!! 😁 This little house is no where near the scale of that. 😅 Lots of people are really creative with this game, if you look up Starbound builds you will see soooo many from people far more creative than I am. This is so basic compared to what some people can build. 😅 There are some amazing structures out there!

Although there are many structures, they do not detract from yours!

Nice place ya got there! And I have to say, the crystal biome is my second favorite location. My very favorite biome in the game though is definitely the glowing rock biome. I harvest that stuff for base building all the time!

Cheers! 😄

This is the first time I've come across the stuff so it was a pleasant surprise. I've since started visiting the 'alien' worlds and now I wish I built my base there instead. So many interesting biomes!

The endgame for me has always been building an interstellar network of civilizations - which I'm sure you'll get to as well! The ability to plop NPCs into houses was a game-changer and makes for some really fun things to build towards.

I seed the galaxy with little colonies now - some like this one that are basically a bunch of stacked boxes:

and some more like this one:

or this one:

It's super super fun, and I'm excited to see what you get up to when you start seeding the galaxy with your own colonies!

Those are fantastic!! 😃

Unfortunately I won't be getting that far, at least not with this playthrough. I've disabled cloud saves due to my son also using my Steam account on a different device and I've just migrated to a new PC and didn't think to grab my saves before formatting the laptop. 😣 I've got two more pre-written Starbound posts from this little tale and that's the unfortunate end (without a death at least, but that would've made it more interesting, haha).
