Election is a process of choosing a leader, members of parliament, councillors or other representatives by popular vote.
I am glad to have the chance to show my displeasure on the current electoral process.
Currently, we have two famous and strong parties, which are All Progressive Congress (A.P.C) and People Democratic Party (P.D.P). 85% of their candidates emerge as winners after election from the Local Government to the Federal level. They made Nigeria to believe that candidates from the two parties are the chosen ones and candidates from other parties are doing awareness. They made themselves popular and are the two parties that have been producing the commander in chief of Armed forces (president).
Looking at the statistics of the political parties we have, there are not less than a hundred political parties. Which is very high compared to developed countries. America has two, some countries have three. I believe three parties is okay, if truly they want to follow what Democracy preaches, Government of the people by the people and for the people. But the reverse is the case, Government by the people and for the politician is the type of Democracy they practice in Nigeria.

Primary election

Before we move deeper into the election processes, the primary election done by each party will determine who is the flag bearer of each political party.
If we observe the way the primary was done at state and other levels, we will understand that these people didn't have our interest in mind, they are after their selfish interest, for them to fight within their political party, then we should expect war during elections that will be intra political parties. So far, the primary is not convincing and it is scary.

Election processes

Politicians work in chains, they have a common saying "there is no permanent enemy in politics". Today they can contest against each other and tomorrow they are allies in the same party, politician switch party like football players, and that is solely for their self interest, looking at the just concluded primary, I know of a state where the father is contesting for the Governor, the daughter house of Representatives and the son is also contesting for senator.
Independent National Electoral Commission (I.N.E.C) is responsible for the conduction of election in Nigeria. To me I can only grade them 3 out of the scale of 10.

The collection of P.V.C (permanent voters card) is the first problem citizens are facing. Am a victim too, they don't protect us at all.
Political parties always hijack the exercise and will only allow people that will vote for them to be registered, at times fights do happen which leads to damage of properties and loss of lives. The process should be simple, thank God everybody can access the internet, let us do the registration on our smartphones and wait for the collection, when available at a distance friendly place.

There should be an extra screening from this body for all the candidates, to reduce the number of contestants and give us the best hand.

The process of the election, I mean on the election day, some electorates vote in fair because the election is no more free and fair as it should be, it is now do or die. Hijacking of polling boxes and other electoral materials, damage of properties and killing and inflicting injury on electorates. Some people are now determined not to vote and stay at home to avoid any loss of property or life. We should be protected and also our vote should be protected too, we want our vote to count. Some people have believed that they don't count our votes that the winners are decided by cabals.
