Beautiful Sunday: Chinese New Year’s decorations at the mall.

On Sunday I had to do few errands at the big shopping mall where banks would be opened on Sundays. I wouldn’t visit big shopping mall as there’s a temptation to spend money on household items. I had, over the last few years, been hoarding essential items just in case the supply chains went haywire. I seemed to be obsessed with preparation for societal shutdown. I did go through a phase of stocking essential medicine, pain killers, antibiotics and vitamins just in case there’s a sudden upheaval and riots. I had been reading too much fear porns and apocalypse!

So, this favourite shopping mall always reminded me of my crazy phase of prepping for ‘the end of the world’ scenario. Sometimes my vivid dreams about future events seemed to increase my anxiety and the urge to get ready for any unexpected calamity. Several of my dreams about the future had come true, including the countrywide flooding, the burning of Bangkok shopping malls during bad riots or mini civil war. So, I became quite wary of my ‘prophetic’ dreams and the pictures or snapshots of future events.

During the last year, I have learned to let go of my fear and anxiety of future events. Something reminded me to influence future events with positive thoughts and actions. This process has been ongoing as it involved lots of quiet attention, reflections and meditation. The mind would need to be at the appropriate frequency for insights and wisdom to counteract the accumulation of anxiety and fear of uncertainty. This shopping mall enabled me to have an hour of reflective or meditative walk throughout the walkways on six floors. I could feel good vibes during my quiet walk. I wondered if the land on which the mall was located used to be an old temple where monks were serious meditators.

As I made my way from the fourth floor to the first floor, I was overwhelmed by a rush of energetic vibes. My eyes were drawn towards the Chinese New Year’s decorations in strong red and gold colours. The mall had set up a special corner for people to take selfies among beautiful decorations. There was also a set of Chinese gods of fortune and good luck for people to pay respect and perhaps ask for blessings.

I haven’t been to this shopping mall for over a month, so it was very nice to come across such stimulating Chinese theme decorations. Very few visitors came to take selfies, perhaps most people had already seen this set of decorations. The year of the Dragon or Big Snake (in Thai), was supposed to be full of dramatic changes. The theme of the set was a golden dragon emerging from water. Then, I noticed some youngsters paying their respect to several Chinese statues.

At first I thought these were just some plastic or resin models of Chinese gods. But when I approached these Chinese statues, I could feel very nice flow of energy from them. Then, I realised that these were probably belonged to some senior management and that they were quite old too. So, these were genuine statues of Chinese gods of fortune, good luck, wish fulfillment, prosperity and happiness. It was very nice of the management to share such good vibes Chinese religious statues. I realised that these statues were spreading good vibes which I could pick up the first time I saw the colourful set of decorations.

There’s a stall selling traditional red Chinese dresses, shirts and blouses for wearing on Chinese New Year’s Day. I had to remind myself to put on a new or bright red or golden colour shirt too. People believed that this would bring good luck and prosperity throughout the year. I was struck by the Chinese coffee shop nearby as its red decor was so cheerful and in harmony with the main decorations. This small shop served coffee and tea in antique looking containers such as old tea pots and cups. I was hoping to have some Chinese snacks but the vendor serverd ordinary white toasts. So, I had to search for some snacks in the food hall.

This year, time seemed to flow by doubly fast as it’s almost spring as March was just round the corner. I had to make bigger effort to be mindful of each day and to try to be less wasteful in terms of energy and time. Sometimes some waves of negative and lethargic energies came over me making me felt like being pinned to the ground. I was spelled bound by these nets of energies and stuck in a trap of confusion. Only by praying and reciting some prayers could I break free of these sticky webs of weird emotions. This year would be much more challenging than last year and I needed all the help and stamina I could gather. So, I hoped that those Chinese gods wod shower me with lots of protective and healthy vibes.
