Happy Caturday:feeding stray cats becoming routine, เลี้ยงแมวเร่ร่อนเป็นกิจวัตร

No matter how busy I was, I felt compelled to rush to the temple to feed those stray cats who would be waiting for me eagerly. The thought of these poor cats going without food for more than three days just dawn on my mind and it wouldn’t go away. I just wished those monks who were responsible for feeding temple cats with donated money would do better job. Whenever I could catch this monk feeding temple cats, I would certainly put in a request. But I wonder if he would be very pleased with my outspoken gesture.

I think these cats must be psychic as they seem to be able to send me messages about their plight. Sometimes I arrived to find that an older kitten was in a very bad way; he ate the food so fast that he choked himself. This grey kitten could spotted me from twenty meters away and would run quickly towards be while meowing like a lost kitten. He’s a loner but he’s a sweet little cat who likes to hide under the inside of pickup truck. As soon as he heard my voice, he would wake up and run to greet me. I just hope these cats come out to hunt during the night.

Samsi, my favorite tri-colour cat, also recognises my voice and would come out from under the roof to get his food. These cats have their habits and they are already used to this freedom to be wild. So, I could not imagine them living like a house-cat. It would be very difficult for me to have to say goodbye to these cats one day. The same applied to the stray cats in the car park. Although Sandy is still very wary of me and wouldn’t let me get near her; she would run to me after hearing my calling in the car park. I had to return my car back to the old parking space twice as I spotted her on the other level, so she could follow me to have her meal.

She surprised me twice by responding to my chatting to her, her voice was very soft and sweet like a small child. I just wish she would trusted me more, but I could tell that she had been badly treated by people in the past. Her friend, Tiger has suddenly reappeared last week. I wondered why each cat had one eye damaged! Was it because of cat fighting? I have never seen a furious cat fight before; whenever I hear a cats’ fight I would try to break it up straightaway. People often thought I was crazy as I even tried to break up dogs’ fight in the past . Luckily my voice was loud and fierce enough to frighten those dogs away. But I would rather be able to use my voice to tame cats and dogs so they would understand my good intention.

ช่วงที่ฝนตกหนัก เราก็ต้องคอยให้ฝนซาก่อน แล้วเราค่อยหาจังหวะออกไปที่วัดยานนาวา เพื่อไปเลี้ยงอาหารแมวเร่ร่อนที่นั่น ไม่ว่าเราจะยุ่งเพียงใดเราก็ต้องหาเวลาไปที่นั่น เพราะมีความรู้สึกว่า มีแมวบางตัวต้องการความช่วยเหลือ เหมือนแมวส่งกระแสจิต มาบอกว่าแย่แล้วหิวมากเลย ไม่มีคนเลี้ยงข้าว. พอเราไปถึงก็จะเจอแมวหิวโซวิ่งเข้ามาหาเรา และร้องขออาหารด้วย. เจ้าลูกแมวสีเทาตัวเล็ก อายุประมาณสี่เดือนมีความจำดีมาก มันหิวโซและกินอาหารเร็วจนสำลัก ท่าทางมันจะไม่ได้กินอาหารมาหลายวัน แมวตัวนี้โดนแม่แมวทิ้งให้อยู่เองมาสองเดือนแล้ว มันน่าสงสารที่ต้องออกมาเผชิญโลกกว้างโดยลำพัง เจ้าสีเทาชอยซ่อนอยู่ใต้รถกระบะ พอเราเรียกแมว มันจะตื่นนอนและออกมาหาเราทันที

เราค่อนข้างเป็นห่วงแม่แมว ดูท่าทางมันควรจะคลอดลูกได้แล้วท้องโตมาก แต่มันยังไม่ไปหาที่คลอดลูกเลย เราหวังว่าถ้ามีอะไรผิดปกติ พระที่มีหน้าที่เลี้ยงอาหารแมว คงจะพาแมวไปหาหมอด้วย แมวตัวนี้ท้องตอนอายุสี่เดือนเท่านั้น มันยังไม่มีประสบการณ์ในการเป็นแม่แมวมาก่อน เราก็ได้แต่บอกให้มันไปหาที่คลอดลูกโดยด่วน ส่วนน้องชายของมันก็คอยดูพร่ของมันอยู่ห่างๆ แต่ก่อนสองตัวนี้ชอบเล่นกันประจำ แมวห้าหกตัวเริ่มคุ้นเคยกับเรามากขึ้น และจำท่าเดินของเราได้แต่ไกล พวกมันจะวิ่งมาหาเราอย่างเด็กที่ดีใจจะได้กินขนมหวานอร่อยๆ นอกจากนี้ก็มีเจ้าสามสี แมวตัวเก่งของเราที่จำเสียงเราได้ดี และจะออกมาหาเราทันทีเช่นกัน

แมวตัวผู้ที่ชื่อเสือกลับมาแล้ว หลังจากหายไปสองสาสัปดาห์ มันเป็นเพื่อนรักกับเจ้าทราย แมวสีสวาทที่ถูกเอามาทิ้งแถวนั้น ตอนนี้เจ้าทรายจำเราได้แล้ว และจะวิ่งมาตามหาเรา เมื่อได้ยินเสียงเราเรียกแมวในที่จอดรถยนต์ในห้าง เราอยากให้มีคนมารับมันไปเลี้ยงและดูแล เพราะมันเป็นแมวที่มีลักษณะพิเศษ ซึ่งมีความอ่อนโยนมาก มันเคยทำให้เราแปลกใจสองครั้ง มันตอบเราด้วยภาษาแมว ที่มีเสียงหวานมาก และตาของมันมีแววตาที่ใสบริสุทธิ์มาก ไม่เหมือนแมวบางตัวที่มีความก้าวร้าวปนอยู่มาก เราก็จะพยายามหาเวลาไปเลี้ยงแมวเร่ร่อนที่น่าสงสารให้เต็มความสามารถ ถ้าถึงเวลาที่เราต้องเดินทางไปที่อื่นๆไกลๆ เป็นเวลานาน เราติดว่าแมวคงแย่แน่ เราอยากให้มีคนมาเอาแมวไปให้คนที่อยากรับเลี้ยงแมวดูแลที่บ้านผู้ใจดีด้วย
