Hello, my dear creative friends! I hope you’re doing well and are full of energy for the new school season. At this time of year, we all love showing off school supplies that reflect our personalities, and what better way to do that than by designing our own covers? Lately, transparent covers made from acetate have been a huge trend. They look incredibly modern, elegant, and professional, but finding the exact materials can sometimes be a challenge or an extra expense. Since we love making the most of what we have on hand here on the channel, today I’m sharing a brilliant alternative: we’re going to swap out the acetate for something we all have at home!

Since I didn't have a sheet of that plastic material on hand, I decided to get creative and used thick, clear adhesive tape. I have to say, the final result looks incredibly beautiful, shiny, and durable. The best part of this project is that it is extremely inexpensive, and we can do it ourselves in a matter of minutes.

I decided to try making these kinds of covers because they are trending and very easy to create.

¡Hola, mis queridos amigos creativos! Espero que se encuentren muy bien y con la energía al máximo en esta nueva temporada escolar. En esta época del año, a todos nos encanta estrenar útiles escolares que reflejen nuestra personalidad, y qué mejor manera de hacerlo que diseñando nuestras propias portadas. Últimamente está muy en tendencia un tipo de portadas transparentes hechas con acetato. La verdad es que lucen supermodernas, elegantes y profesionales, pero a veces conseguir los materiales exactos puede ser un reto o un gasto extra. Como en este canal nos encanta resolver con lo que tenemos a la mano, hoy les traigo una alternativa genial: ¡vamos a sustituir el acetato por algo que todos tenemos en casa!

Como yo no tenía una lámina de ese material plástico a la mano, decidí ponerme creativa y utilicé cinta adhesiva transparente gruesa. Les cuento que el resultado final queda increíblemente bonito, brillante y resistente. Lo mejor de este proyecto es que es sumamente económico y lo podemos hacer nosotros mismos en cuestión de minutos.

Me animé a realizar este tipo de portadas porque están en tendencia y son muy fáciles de hacer.

Scissors

Colored cardstock
Adhesive tape
A graphite pencil
A sheet of white paper
Markers
A hole punch
A ruler

Cinta adhesiva

Step by step - Paso a paso

First, we create the stickers or designs we like best on the white sheet of paper and color them with the markers.

Primero hacemos en la hoja blanca los stickers o motivos que más nos gusten y los pintamos con los marcadores.

Then, using the ruler, we draw the surrounding lines and divide it down the middle to cut out only the tab, as shown in the image.

Luego, con la regla, trazamos las líneas de alrededor y la dividimos en medio para recortar solo la pestaña, así como aparece en la imagen.

We use adhesive tape and stick it to the back of the tab we cut out, so we can then attach the figures we made.

Utilizamos la cinta adhesiva y la pegamos por la parte de atrás de la pestaña que recortamos para luego pegar las figuritas que hicimos.

Once the cutouts are glued in place, we reinforce them with more adhesive tape on the front, and we create a frame for the page using pink—or any other color—cardstock.

Cuando ya están pegadas las figuritas, las reforzamos con más cinta adhesiva por la parte de adelante y con la cartulina de color rosado o cualquier color le hacemos un marco a la hoja.
