The support of each other

On another round through the city of Eindhoven I found some more street art. Underneith the 'Strijps Bultje' which is actually just a viaduct carrying the ringroad over this area of town has some cool surprises underneith.

All of a sudden it looks like the structure is being lifted by hands, and as if all hands need to carry the same weight to keep the platform from collapsing. What a beautiful metafor to everything that is going on at the moment.

When you are passing the underpass of the 'Strijps Bultje' actually quite often something is going on there. I saw a girl getting boxing classes 1-on-1 because gyms are still closed. I saw a group of expats getting salsa lessons underneith there because groupstuff indoor (and maybe even outdoor) is forbidden still.

The place is being used which is cool to see. Because from that it is being used by pedestrians this intersection is normally a total death trap for autodrivers, who are totally the ones last in line after you kill a cyclist or a pedestrian here.

"All hands have to carry the weight of the structure".

Maybe this is even the most fitting reflection to society at the moment as we see our morals sometimes crumbeling down due to the covid story. We all have to work to get this back up, and the stronger hands have to support the weaker hands. That is how society works, we take care of each other.

If I were a polician in Holland this week with the upcoming election, I would make my points of view right here to prove my point.

This year has not been easy for anyone, with a lot of freedoms which have been taken away, but the one thing remains. We all have to do this together.

I find it scary that with the elections coming next week that sentiment might have something to do with the how the outcome of this might be. The view should be long term and with everybody helping each other and giving in a bit, but it feels like it will not be like that.

It feels like short term will be the way to go so the major grabbing can start again... Scary stuff...

I am amazed with how much cool street art there is to be found in such a small area in Eindhoven. Although these are not the most fashionable pieces like these ones the message behind it is even more clear.

I'm hoping that when Spring hits and I will be more in the city I will be finding a lot more hidden art in the corners everywhere to spread along the world!
