Bunga Tulip Afrika (Spathodea)

Spathodea, Bunga Tulip Afrika (African tulip tree). (Priv. Doc.)

Yesterday, I rode my motor EV along an industrial complex to send food. Many Bunga Tulip Afrika or African tulip trees are flourishing along the road, so I decided to take several photos.

I use my old digital camera Canon 550D with Sigma medium zoom lens. I still learn to take photos or use my digital camera, so maybe as an amateur or beginner in photography.

I try to identify this flower using Google image and the result is known as Bunga Tulip Afrika or Ki Acret, in Indonesian term or Spathodea campanulata. Spathodea is an African tree. It has a tall stature that makes it suitable as a shade plant or roadside ornamental. The plant is known by many names. Call it the African tulip because the color of the flowers is similar to tulips. The crown of the flower is bright red or orange. Some also call it the rain tree. Sundanese people call it Ki Acret which means squirt tree, while Javanese people call it Crut-crutan.

Spathodea is fast-growing and diligent in flowering. Because of its fast growth, Spathodea is often used as a plant for land rehabilitation. Spathodea fruits are capsule-shaped and burst when ripe. Ripe fruits produce small, light seeds that are easily carried by the wind.(hpx)
