If you Follow this ONE Rule, You Will NEVER Get Scammed!

I have been part of many crypto communities since 2017. You cannot believe how many scams have passed from my messages and how many times I tried to prevent users from getting scammed.

Unfortunately, scammers always seem to be steps ahead of technology & authorities. As technology progresses, so do the scammers ways of trying to earn from our ignorance.

I still cannot believe how easily people will fall for scams. I keep wondering.

WHY? WHY can’t they see that this is just WRONG? It makes NO SENSE! Why?

There are several reasons why people fall for scams so easily.

First of all, there are experienced users and inexperienced users.

Not everyone knows how to handle online systems, or has basic security concepts in mind. After all, we are not born with these abilities, we learn them as we progress.
Digital literacy is a crucial skill, which we should definitely acquire and pass on to everyone we know :)

One of the main reasons that people fall for scammers is that they want to HOPE that something is real.

Usually due to hope that something is real, they just choose to believe something that is .. unbelievable. If not, thy feel they will have missed a great opportunity. Scammers are very smart in creating FOMO situations for us. (Fear of Missing Out)

“Hey, I got a great offer for you, but you got to act NOW, or you will miss it and the next one wins”

So, they naturally think. Oh, then I should do it NOW! And they lose. Sometimes more than they afford to lose.

Now, I will share with you one very important thing to always keep in mind so that you never get scammed, and below some more generic rules to keep in mind.

Please note that these are from my personal experience. After a few months I will try to create a series of more detailed articles that everyone will be able to read and follow for a safe online (and offline) journey.

Rule Number 1 – and most important.

If someone invites you do to something that sounds too good to be true, sorry to disappoint you, but it is probably a scam.

(Of course this does not mean that there are not opportunities out there! Remember when you first heard of Bitcoin and thought it was a scam? Remember when you tell people about hive and they say .. oh its not possible?)

Thanks to @acidyo for pointing out my logical fallacy :)

Scammers will try to lure us, offering us something they know we want. If they already know us, they know what we are most interested in so they know how to make a move.
If they do not know us and they are sending mass messages, then they will probably offer us an airdrop, a great return on investment that is guaranteed etc etc!

ALWAYS be vigilant when somebody just sends you a message, an sms, calls you etc asking you to be part of something that sounds .. immensely profitable! If 30% daily return on investment was real, then all of us would have a lambo landing on the moon!

Now, let me give you 3 recent examples that I witnessed an a few more generic suggestions that you should always follow.

Real Life Example #1

Someone from a legit company called me. They were from the legal department of this company, based in XX city and they told me that they have identified many scams and now they are returning their funds to people who have lost money from scammers. They have showed me my account there and there is lots of money that I need to get back! All they request is for my bank account so that they can return this amount to me!

This is a REAL situation that someone shared in a telegram group a few days ago!

What would you do?
First of all, we start questioning ourselves. Somebody for a big firm has my phone number? Hm, suspicious. They have refunded money, do I have an account in their platform? Hm, no.. Did we loose any time from scams? No. So how come he is showing us such a big amount in an account with our name!? He wants to have our bank account? He promised that it will not cost us anything and they will just send the $$ to us? Do we have time to waste for investigating further? Then let’s do it. No? Then just drop it.
One smart thing to do would be to take the persons information, name, position, telephone number, email and anything else they will provide us. Then we can contact the support of the company and inform them of the person using their info. That way we can both be sure that it was a scam, and the company will know so that they can investigate and make an official announcement!

Real Life Example #2

Someone shares a screenshot of his account somewhere with $$$$$! And they ask: Someone sent me this, there is a big amount in my account and I have to pay XX amount so that I can take it out. There are fees associated with it! What do I do?
Well, nothing! They will both take your money and of course send you nothing back!

Real Life Example #3

Hi! I am sending a screenshot of this platform that I joined yesterday! I deposited 250$ but I do not see it now and the person who introduced it to me, does not respond to my messages!

Well, daaa of course you will not hear from that person again! He/She took your (and other people’s) money and went far far away!

These are only 3 of the numerous stories that I have come across, and happened the last week!
I hope that you are learning how to recognize them and not allow them to take advantage of you.

Please always remember that:

Scammers are masters of persuasion, using tactics such as urgency, fear, and greed to manipulate their targets.
They often present their scams as once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, creating a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) that makes people act quickly without thinking things through.

Not all scams are simple. Some can be incredibly sophisticated, using tactics such as social engineering and spoofing to create a sense of legitimacy.
Be careful and always pay attention to fake websites or email addresses that look almost identical to those of legitimate organizations. Always verify a link before clicking it.

Remember to always stay informed, vigilant, ask if you are unsure or search it online!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I too faced the crypto scam and fell. A guy texted me in Instagram with lots of followers in his account with many comments on his post like he changed his life. He texted me like he was running a BTC mining company, people who invest the money will be doubled and returned in 3 working days and i sent 100$ which was huge amount at the time for me and finally he blocked me (as expected) 😅
