Locked Out of Twitter: This Could Happen To You? [Resolved]

This is the story about how I managed to (almost) lock myself out of my Twitter/X account - and how you can prevent it from happening! If you cancel your subscription, you should remove/change your two-factor authentication or else you may get stuck. In my case, after reaching a dead end, I accidentally hit the 'back button' that led me to the path where I could log in again! Please take a quick look at the below and hopefully it will not happen to you! - But if it does, you now know that you can resolve it!

A few days ago I was writing about canceling my X subscription for now and I had not checked my X account in a few days.

Today when I tried to log in, I got this message!

Apparently, since the X subscription is cancelled - I will need to remove my two-factor authentication.

Ok so far?
Yes.

But how the **** will I remove it since I CANNOT LOG IN MY ACCOUNT?

Let's see.

Clicking 'Get Started' takes me to a dead end page

If you go 'back' you are redirected to this page

https://twitter.com/i/bounce/two-factor-unenroll-sms-bouncer

Where you are asked for your password. Let's see

If you get this screen, enter your password and then you will be asked to turn off the two-factor authentication

After that, I was asked to choose another authentication way, so I selected google authenticator. I tried to enter the code, but it came out wrong a few times.

So, I am not sure why - but It seems that I managed to turn off the authentication and log in to my account

This whole process confused me a lot. It took me time to try and figure out what was wrong and how to fix this.

I would contact support if I would not make it.

I hope that this tutorial helps you out if needed.

Thanks for stopping by, let me know if you had a similar experience with Twitter/X.

Why is everything getting so complicated? "Going Back" to the previous page seems to solve so many problems - like "Turning Off" and "Switching Back on Again".

I rarely visit Twitter/X as part of my aim to simplify my online presence.

I think that there will be more issues until the full transition to X. I lost lots of time today till I accidentally hit the 'back'.
