Museum of money. Lots of cool facts. Did they mention crypto there? / Muzeum pieniądza w Warszawie - fajne, nowoczesne, pełne ciekawostek
Have you ever heard of kauri shells? They were used as currency in Asia, America, Australia and Africa in the old days. From antiquity to the nineteenth century. How fun it would be to pay with such beautiful shells instead of coins. At the Money Museum in Warsaw, I could see many other alternative means of payment to the paper money we know. Some looked like small works of art, for example, currency from China, with a figure carved in bamboo wood.
W Muzeum Pieniądza w Warszawie mogłam zobaczyć wiele innych alternatywnych środków płatniczych do znanych nam papierowych pieniędzy.
In the museum, you can print such a souvenir money with your own initials. See what I wrote down. My blog name on Hive 😉 It is a pity that they also do not give real banknotes of large denominations 😉
At the entrance to the museum, we pass through a security gate, such as at the airport. Already in the first rooms you can feel that this place is very modern and cool designed.
In the first room you can learn a lot about the history of money. See various coins and alternative financial resources that were once used, read how the tax system developed. The writing on the floor was cool. You could go around and learn with each step more about how you used to pay in different countries and about the history of various discoveries, e.g. the first payment system - Egypt, or Egypt - a great non-money civilization.
You can see the Katanga cross in the photo below. Also a very interesting means of payment. It was used in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This happened in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Na zdjęciu poniżej możecie zobaczyć krzyż kongijski. Też bardzo ciekawy środek płatności. Używano go na terenie obecnej Demokratycznej Republiki Konga.

From another plaque next to the museum exhibit, I learned that these huge wheels are rai stone money from the islands in the Pacific. They were used until the middle of the 20th century. Wow, that is until recently.
Były używane do połowy XX wieku. Wow, czyli jeszcze niedawno.
I think this place is a paradise for numismatists. I used to collect coins for several months when I was a child and had a special album for them, but fortunately I quit it.
As for the question in the title of my post. Unfortunately, the cryptocurrencies in the museum received little attention, despite the fact that there is a large room with information about the stock exchanges.

Interesting place. Yes I have listened about kauri, they were used in old times., but still a part of sayings 🤣
It's great that you heard about kauri. For me it was a complete novelty 😊 I am glad that I could see this kauri shell 😊
