Hello Travellers and welcome to our Malta adventure! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Our second day in Malta started earlier. My husband was already awake preparing the things we needed. I woke up and said good morning and kissed. Then he told me that I need to prepare and he will meet his friend. I know he doesn't have a friend in the city but because I was sleepy. I had no idea who that person was and his plan for that day. And never thought about it that much.

Before leaving the apartment, the kids were still sleeping and he leave a message telling them to get ready. Because we would be back later around 9 in the morning.

It was all his plan. We left to meet his friend. They will meet at 8 in the morning and we will just walk to their meeting place.

We started our morning walk going to the boat street, which was their meeting place.

The morning air was refreshing and cool. We enjoyed our simple time walking around the beautiful Valletta. The streets were still peaceful, everything looked beautiful and calm. Then slowly seeing a city come to life.

As we walked, I admired the old limestone buildings and lovely streets even more. Everything felt like a postcard and so unique.

Another corner and we found a viewpoint where Sliema right across the harbor. Malta is so small and every corner packs a new view.

Then we passed by the St Paul's Anglican Pro-Cathedral and walked along the stone walls. Every corner there's history to tell.

We arrived at the meeting place, the boat street. The shops were still closed. There are tables and chairs outside the small shop. Time was ticking and his friend hadn't arrived. We waited... and waited... And my husband tried to call him and no did not pick up his calls.

And decided to give a few minutes and nothing. We need to go back to our apartment.

Honestly, I had no idea what was going on. My husband had planned everything, and I simply followed along without asking too many questions. We just enjoyed sitting while watching the harbor.

Then his friend call, the meeting place had changed. It means another place, another walking again. After they talked, I asked him who's your friend. Still the same, I have no clues at all. I don't like to force him because he was was so annoyed of waiting for a long time. Time is so precious to him, his so strick and needs to follow the time.

We walked again to our new meeting place. We just pass by a well know restaurant in Valletta named Cockney's Restaurant has an overlooking view of the harbor.

The place already looked inviting even though it was still early. I like the place exterior, a wooden design blended beautifully with historic stone walls.

We arrived in the small square, its like a small park with the beautiful pink flowering trees.

A few minutes later, his friend finally arrived. Then we jump on his car and that's when I discovered the real reason for their meeting.

While his friend was driving, they talk for awhile, he gives my husband information and signed the rental documents. It made sense at all, we were about to begin our road trip adventure

Fast forward, everything went smoothly and the keys were finally in my husbands hands.

I'm excited and I know the kids are too. Especially on day one, we just walked around Valletta. And now it was much more comfortable for us.

But before we start our road trip, we had to pick up our kids. Then our biggest challenge of the morning began.

Parking in Valletta is definitely not easy. It is super limited and mostly paid. If you're planning to rent a car the main seaside is available. And we stayed in Valletta, street parking and almost all the streets are for residents permit only.

We searched for parking near the seafront but it was already full. We really didn't have much choice and my husband had to stop for awhile near our rental accommodation so we could quickly pick up the kids.

We run to the apartment, he call the kids and we need to be hurry. So the kids reaction like โ€œwhat happened??โ€โ€™ Zoe keep on asking questions. I help them carry our bags. And my husband was so stress and said stop asking questions for now.

Then something happened that immediately raised our stress level.

I was the first to notice them and shouted โ€œPolice! Police!โ€. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

The two officers walking around our rented car. My husband quickly run and in panic mood.

He talked to the officers and many time he said โ€œSorry!โ€. Explaining to them that we need to pick up the kids, parking area was full and we're leaving for a road trip.

My husband quickly replied โ€œThere won't be a next time because this is only for today's trip.โ€

Thanks God! The officers understood everything and walked away without giving us a ticket.

It was a huge relief when the moment they left. We couldn't help but laugh afterward and it was part of our adventure.

When he started the engine, our road trip officially began. And the stress of the morning slowly disappeared behind us.

Unexpected moments is part of traveling. It's not just about the famous attraction but also the unexpected moments. Like small problem, surprises, meeting other people and more.

Not everything goes according to plan and those unplanned moments becomes the most stories we remembered.

Thank you so much for reading my blog! It was just the beginning of our Malta road trip adventure. Stay tuned for more stories and photos of our road trip adventures.
