Our Visit to the Church of Our Lady of Assistance in Brussels.

Hello @worldmappin community!
After spending time exploring the UNESCO World Heritage, the beautiful Grand Place, we continued walking around the city. Brussels has so many historic buildings, narrow streets, cafe's to see that it was not difficult to stop and look around.

During our walk through the center of Brussels, we came across another beautiful historic church-the Church of Our Lady of Assistance and also known as Église Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours.
It was another stop during our Brussels trip. Since we love visiting churches while traveling, we couldn't resist going inside to have a look.
📍The Baroque exterior gives so much details. The statue of St. James (El Camino de Santiago) in the middle holding his pilgrim.
From the outside, I was already interested in the architecture, so we decided to stop and have a look inside.
The exterior architecture is a beautiful example of Baroque style-stone facade made up for ages, elegant windows, carved details, decorative columns, curved ornaments and beautiful stonework everywhere.
Despite being centuries old, all the beautiful details are still visible. It’s wonderful to see how this beautiful historic church blends naturally into the busy street.

When we entered, the church was quiet and there were no other visitors inside at that time. The quietness made it feel even more sacred and beautiful. After walking through the busy place of Grand Place, it was nice to step into a peaceful place.

Inside, I was truly impressed by how different the interior felt compared from the outside. The interior was filled with beautiful architectural details from elegant sculptures, decorative columns, gold accents, and colorful stained-glass windows.

The altar immediately caught my attention and my favorite part of the church. I stood there for a long time because there was so much to see in every corner.

The grand sculpture at the back was the focal point and so dramatic. The mix of grey and white stone with gold made the whole place feel both majestic and elegant. The altar was surrounded by statues of angels and other figures.

The actual feeling of standing there was much more beautiful and when I looked upward, I could see the high and curved walls.

Another thing that caught my attention was the pile of rocks. It was a modern stone baptismal font in the center, wooden chairs, and traditional side altars. The simplicity of its design creates a beautiful contrast with the architecture around it.
One thing I love about visiting churches, the outside gives us one glimpse of what is waiting inside. We simply took our time looking around and appreciating the beautiful Baroque architectural design.

While I was taking pictures, I also tried to be respectful even though we're the only person inside. Because it was still a place of prayer.
As always, we took a moment to pray. We never forget to thank God for everything, on our journey, blessings, protection, especially allowing us to witness such sacred beauty inside the Church of Our Lady of Assistance.
When we stepped outside again, it was completely different after the quiet atmosphere inside the church. Busy city streets and people walking around and heading to our next destination.
Thank you for taking time reading my blog. Stay tuned for our next adventure around Brussels!.
