My story:

Daniel Mendoza and Marta González moved in together after finishing their high school studies. Their relatives were opposed to this relationship. Time would prove them right. Both young people have many projects and illusions. They would work and study. He would study law and she would study art. After 6 months their lives would take a turn that they would not control.....

July 5, 1969

Dr. Michael Ferguson tells them the news:

-Martha you are pregnant.

Martha paled. Daniel tries to contain his anger, but his obfuscated countenance gives him away. Without saying a word he leaves the office. Marta recovers and asks:

-How am I doing, Doctor? I am working and studying.

The doctor encourages her:

-Everything will be fine. Come for your regular checkups. The rest will be taken care of in time.

Marta leaves the office to go home. Daniel was waiting for her there. His immaturity does not allow him to assimilate the news. He complains to Hiromi about her carelessness. She screams and transforms. Daniel has never seen her like this. Daniel reacts to calm her down..... Unfortunately, fights and disagreements continue in their daily life.

Daniel, pressured by financial expenses, enters the underworld of drugs. First he began to sell them to increase his earnings. Little by little he sold more and more. With that they were able to live in better conditions but his beloved, Marta, began with strange personality changes. He did not understand her and, to avoid the torment that this situation generated in him, he began to consume the same drug he was selling. He thought that this would be temporary and that he would leave him later. Serious mistake.....

In one of those quiet moments, Daniel remembered a comment made by Marta when she became pregnant:

-My grandmother Beatriz presented personality problems.

That memory was enough for Daniel to leave Marta for good. He left the house immediately without taking anything with him.

From that moment on, Marta began to have an additional disorder, psychotic amnesia. No one was aware of it. She dropped out of school and worked to have her baby. But she still stole whatever she could. When she was discovered she became aggressive. In the last robbery she carried out there was violence. The victim reported her. Marta was arrested and the judge sentenced her to three years in prison, after seeing her record. At that time Marta was 7 months pregnant. In prison it got worse. The counselors, doctors, psychologists and caregivers decided that she was not fit to take care of the future baby. They located relatives but, unfortunately, none of them wanted to take care of the baby. So they would place him in a foster home for abandoned children while Marta finished her sentence and reacted to the treatment.

The time came for the delivery. Everything happens normally as agreed. She gave birth to a baby girl and named her Beatriz, remembering her grandmother. She is allowed to breastfeed the baby and to spend time with her, always under supervision. Marta becomes obsessed with her daughter...... Time passes and Marta does not react to the treatment. They consider that they can no longer wait and decide to put Patricia up for adoption. The director of adoptions, Mrs. Mirna, chooses a couple who cannot have children, Clark and Sonya Junot. The new parents would change the girl's name. From now on she would be Jenny Lane. Martha completes the sentence. She was too smart and cunning which was enough to fool everyone. They thought she was cured. So she was able to get out of prison to do whatever she wanted. Nevertheless, she stumbles through life..... She works and steals. Meanwhile, she also searches for her daughter. Three years go by and she manages to get someone from the orphanage to steal the adoption data. This is how Marta begins to stalk the Junot's house. Every day she carefully observes the movements. She decides to make a plan ..... to rescue her daughter from these evildoers .....

It was a rainy day, the lightning and thunder did not let us hear what was happening outside the Junot's house. The visibility did not favor the environment either... It was already 8 o'clock at night and the storm was still raging. The light is leaving.... Sonya was alone with her daughter. She decides to leave her alone and in that carelessness Marta enters the house. Sonya sees her and tries to stop her. Big mistake. Marta assaults her and takes the girl away. Sonya calls Clark. He was returning from work and arrives immediately. He explains what happened. The police are notified. Investigator Jerry Dyer begins the search. Marta leaves for the outskirts of the city. She would be in a house she had rented. There she locked the girl in. The girl began to cry. That infuriated Marta. When the girl saw her, she said to her:

-I want my mommy and my crayons to paint.

-I am your mother, Marta replied.

She continues to cry. Martha suddenly comes to her senses. She brings him crayons and paper for him to draw on. She leaves but returns half an hour later. She looks at the drawing and asks who the people in the drawing are. The girl answers and Martha is furious when she tells her that that is her mother and she is Jenny Lane.

She replies in her confusion:

-I am your real mother and you are Patricia.

He leaves the bedroom and locks the girl out. She is still crying but she remembers that her adoptive mother always told her:
-when you are in danger don't resist. Make your aggressor believe that you will do what he orders you to do.

That reassured her. She was sure she would see her mom again. Three days passed and Sonya was desperate not to hear from the detective. She decides to investigate on her own. She calls her friend Louise to help her. She agrees. They would go on Martha's trail in a race against time. Meanwhile, Jack would keep an eye on the house and any tip-off from the police.

They start by asking at her last job. There they give him the name of a friend of Marta's, Melanie. They contact her. The woman demands a hefty sum of money to provide information. They give it to her. They write down all the references. In this way, they thread the sequence of people and addresses in order to locate them later. They go out to look for her at the nearest address. Then they decide to go to different places, but they would always keep in touch with each other. Time was precious... The first to locate Marta's house was Louise. Unfortunately, she was not cautious enough and Marta hits her and knocks her unconscious. Meanwhile, Detective Dyer goes to Jack's house. When he notices Sonya's audacity, he is furious:

-You don't know the danger you are in going alone... I will send protection for the house. I have already located Marta. Please stay in the house. We don't know what Marta can do.

First Sonya arrives and tries to pull Jenny Lane out of the window. Marta overhears and snatches the girl. Sonya runs into the house. Both women struggle...Then the police and Detective Dyer arrive. They manage to rescue Jenny Lane safe and sound. Marta is apprehended. The case is happily solved and the detective congratulates Sonya for being a bold and loving mother.

A very sad and disturbing story despite the fact that Jenny Lane is rescued from the clutches of her mentally ill mother.

@katleya, if you read our community guidelines you’ll see that we don’t curate stories about child abuse and we ask authors to avoid the subject. Perhaps you haven’t familiarised yourself to our rules, so we ask you to read them over, you’ll find that they’re pinned to the top of the community’s page.

We hope to see more stories from you in the future, which we will be happy to curate, as long as they adhere to our guidelines.

I have always participated in the weekly Inkwell meetings. There I have always read the weekly rules of participation. As my internet access is difficult, at the moment, I unfortunately posted without reading the general considerations. I apologize @theinkwell and I will be more attentive for the future.

Thank you for your comments

Saludos @katleya

Thank you for your comments and observations. Yes it is a different story than the ones I always do but unfortunately I didn't put it in the right community. Thank you for reading @popurri
