Not quit yet

I haven't given up yet. It reminds me of a song by a very famous singer named Luis Fonsi—a very romantic song. I remember my boyfriend dedicated it to me, and I was so happy that he wanted a world with me.

He told me there were no barriers that could separate us. He said he would swear to wait for me his whole life, that he would never give up, that we would be together forever, that he would wait and wait, that he wouldn't get tired because I was the sign of his destiny.

We got married right after graduating high school. We had two beautiful children. For the first five years, neither of us gave up. Then came the problems, the arguments, the lack of money, the economic crisis in the country, Covid, and Luis Fonsi's song stopped playing for us. It no longer made sense to listen to it. The promises faded away. Fighting and fighting was no longer possible, and waiting even less so. And what had to happen, happened: a bitter divorce and a constant battle for child support.

We got married right after high school. But one thing I'm sure of: I haven't given up yet. My love and desire to fight for a better tomorrow are still intact.

Todavía no me he rendido. Me recuerda a una canción de un cantante muy famoso llamado Luis Fonsi, una canción muy romántica. Recuerdo que mi novio me la dedicó, y me alegré muchísimo de que quisiera un mundo conmigo.

Me dijo que no había barreras que pudieran separarnos. Dijo que juraba esperarme toda su vida, que nunca se rendiría, que estaríamos juntos para siempre, que esperaría y esperaría, que no se cansaría porque yo era la señal de su destino.

Nos casamos justo después de graduarnos de la preparatoria. Tuvimos dos hijos hermosos. Durante los primeros cinco años, ninguno de los dos se rindió. Luego vinieron los problemas, las discusiones, la falta de dinero, la crisis económica del país, el Covid, y la canción de Luis Fonsi dejó de sonar para nosotros. Ya no tenía sentido escucharla. Las promesas se desvanecieron. Luchar y luchar ya no era posible, y esperar aún menos. Y lo que tenía que pasar, pasó: un divorcio amargo y una batalla constante por la manutención de los hijos.

Nos casamos justo después de la preparatoria. Pero de algo estoy segura: aún no me he rendido. Mi amor y mi deseo de luchar por un futuro mejor siguen intactos.
