El hábito de la lectura es algo que, sin duda alguna, heredé de mi padre; él era un afanado lector, solía leer varios periódicos durante el día, sin embargo, no solo leía noticias, también le gustaba leer novelas y Best Sellers.
Poco antes de morir me había prestado una novela bastante antigua que comencé a leer de forma lenta, pero con mucho interés. Después de su muerte no seguí leyendo el libro y en realidad no recuerdo donde lo dejé guardado.
Cinco meses después del fallecimiento de mi padre, salí del país y estuve viviendo en Lima por cuatro años. Al regresar a mi casa en Venezuela, me encontré nuevamente con la novela mientras estaba limpiando y sacudiendo mis libreros. Fue grato encontrar este libro porque representa un bonito recuerdo de las cosas que mi padre y yo teníamos en común.
Después de sacarle el polvo, lo llevé a mi cuarto y lo coloqué en la mesita de noche con intenciones de retomar la lectura donde la había dejado antes, en el capítulo 9 para ser exactos, no obstante, decidí volver un poco atrás para refrescar mi memoria e inicié la lectura en el capítulo 7.
Asombrosamente, pude entrar en contexto rápidamente, recordé los personajes y también la trama principal, por lo que la lectura fue mucho más fluida. Confieso que fue difícil leerlo cada noche de manera consecutiva porque generalmente me acuesto muy tarde y muy agotada, pero cada vez que podía leía dos o tres capítulos seguidos, ya que la historia me atrapaba de tal manera que me quitaba el sueño.
El libro del que les hablo se llama Audrey Rose, El Cristal Ardiente, esta es una novela escrita por Frank de Felita, un conocido guionista estadounidense, fue publicada por primera vez en 1975 y desde entonces se han impreso muchas copias tanto en español como en su idioma original., el Inglés.
La versión que me prestó mi padre fue impresa en una editorial latinoamericana en 1977, que es precisamente el año de mi nacimiento. Lo antiguo del libro se puede notar en las hojas oscuras y amarillentas, sin embargo, está muy bien conservado.
La novela está catalogada dentro del género terror, aunque yo difiero de esto y considero que es más de suspenso, pero eso es depende del cristal con que se mire y lo dejo a consideración de cada lector.
Pues bien, para contarte de que se trata la novela, te voy a pedir que imagines que en un día normal te encuentras a la salida del colegio de tu hija, con un señor que afirma que tu pequeña es la reencarnación de su hija, quien falleció diez años atrás en un terrible accidente de tránsito y que, por ende, el señor también es padre de tu hija.
Pues sí, una situación super extraña, muy loca e incluso atemorizante. De eso se trata la trama de esta novela que tiene como centro la teoría de la reencarnación. En el transcurrir de los hechos la historia nos va llevando por caminos místicos y misteriosos en los cuales se explica y se defiende la teoría de la reencarnación de las almas. El autor nos presenta una obra muy bien contada, describe detalladamente cada ambiente y nos da la posibilidad de visualizar muy bien cada escena tal como si estuviésemos viendo una película en el cine.
El padre de la niña muerta se empeña en demostrar su teoría, la cual adquirió tras muchos años de estar en profunda meditación en la India, luego de sufrir una fuerte depresión por la trágica muerte de su pequeña Audrey Rose. Su obsesión por la única hija de la familia Templenton lo hace cruzar los límites hasta ponerlo tras las rejas acusado de secuestro. Toda la novela se centra en una sala de juicios donde se debate la teoría de la reencarnación y los derechos de la custodia de la niña.
Después de varios meses de juicio y de escuchar diferentes testimonios y alegatos tanto en favor como en contra de la reencarnación, en el último capítulo todo acaba con un final totalmente inesperado, dejando en potestad del lector decidir si creer o no en la teoría de las almas reencarnadas.
En mi opinión personal, creo que la muerte seguirá siendo un misterio profundo, aunque existan múltiples teorías que nos intenten explicar lo que sucede más allá de esta realidad. También creo que lidiar con la muerte de un ser amado es algo abrumador, que sobrepasa toda lógica y entendimiento, y que la mente busca una esperanza, una explicación y un consuelo en lo sobrenatural y en lo místico, para de esta manera, mitigar un poco el dolor del corazón.
Debido a mis principios religiosos, no creo en la reencarnación de las almas, pero estoy totalmente segura de que mi padre seguirá viviendo, mientras su recuerdo, su legado y su herencia permanezca vivo en mi corazón.

The habit of reading is something I undoubtedly inherited from my father; he was an avid reader, he used to read several newspapers during the day, however, he did not only read news, he also liked to read novels and Best Sellers.
Shortly before he died he had lent me a rather old novel which I began to read slowly, but with great interest. After his death I did not continue reading the book and I don't really remember where I put it away.
Five months after my father's death, I left the country and lived in Lima for four years. When I returned home to Venezuela, I came across the novel again while I was cleaning and shaking out my bookshelves. It was nice to find this book because it represents a nice reminder of the things my father and I had in common.
After dusting it off, I took it to my room and placed it on the bedside table with intentions of picking up where I had left off before, at chapter 9 to be exact, however, I decided to go back a bit to refresh my memory and started reading at chapter 7.
Amazingly, I was able to get into context quickly, I remembered the characters and also the main plot, so the reading went much smoother. I confess that it was difficult to read it every night consecutively because I usually go to bed very late and very exhausted, but every time I could I read two or three chapters in a row, as the story caught me in such a way that it took away my sleep.
The book I am talking about is called Audrey Rose, The Burning Crystal, this is a novel written by Frank de Felita, a well known American screenwriter, it was first published in 1975 and since then many copies have been printed both in Spanish and in its original language, English.
The version my father lent me was printed by a Latin American publisher in 1977, which is precisely the year of my birth. The antiquity of the book can be seen in the dark and yellowed pages, however, it is very well preserved.
The novel is catalogued within the horror genre, although I differ from this and consider it to be more suspenseful, but that depends on how you look at it and I leave it up to each reader.
Well, to tell you what the novel is about, I'm going to ask you to imagine that on a normal day you find yourself at the exit of your daughter's school, with a man who claims that your little girl is the reincarnation of his daughter, who died ten years ago in a terrible traffic accident and that, therefore, the man is also the father of your daughter.
Yes, a very strange situation, very crazy and even frightening. That's what the plot of this novel is about, which has the theory of reincarnation at its center. In the course of events, the story takes us through mystical and mysterious paths in which the theory of the reincarnation of souls is explained and defended. The author presents us with a very well told work, describing each environment in detail and giving us the possibility of visualizing each scene very well as if we were watching a movie at the cinema.
The father of the dead girl is determined to prove his theory, which he acquired after many years of deep meditation in India, after suffering a strong depression due to the tragic death of his little Audrey Rose. His obsession for the only daughter of the Templenton family makes him cross the limits until he is put behind bars accused of kidnapping. The entire novel centers on a courtroom where the theory of reincarnation and the rights to custody of the child are debated.
After several months of trial and listening to different testimonies and arguments both for and against reincarnation, in the last chapter everything ends with a totally unexpected ending, leaving it up to the reader to decide whether or not to believe in the theory of reincarnated souls.
In my personal opinion, I believe that death will remain a profound mystery, even if there are multiple theories that try to explain what happens beyond this reality. I also believe that dealing with the death of a loved one is something overwhelming, that surpasses all logic and understanding, and that the mind seeks hope, an explanation and comfort in the supernatural and mystical, in order to mitigate a little of the pain of the heart.
Due to my religious principles, I do not believe in the reincarnation of souls, but I am absolutely certain that my father will live on, as long as his memory, his legacy and his legacy remain alive in my heart.

I equally do not believe in reincarnation but you see that writing allows the mind to explore issues and beliefs and draw conclusions to the depth which the writer wills. This kind of makes stories much more interesting. Books like this makes ones imagination go wild and I love it😂
