MWM|| DIAMOND Granny Square #20
Greetings Hive friends, especially to my NeedleWorkMonday colleagues. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the Christmas festivities very much. Yesterday I was going through my posts for this year and realized that my granny collection was down to granny number 19. Being a somewhat OCD person, I don't like to let things end in odd numbers. That's why today I got up the courage to knit granny number 20, which I'm sharing with you below.
This granny collection was an idea that came up in the middle of the year, with the purpose of replicating the different granny patterns that I found on the web and that I found interesting. The idea is to document in my blog all the grannys that I have learned to knit with their respective patterns and the source from where I got them. I am also archiving all these knitted grannys in a folder.
To make granny number 20, I decided to choose a pattern with an intermediate degree of difficulty. So this pattern called Diamond pattern seemed ideal for me. At first it seemed a bit complex, but after looking at the chart and the reference image, I was able to better understand how to knit it.
The design is made with two different colors of wool. Basically what must be achieved is to weave a kind of rhombus in each of the two colors. To do this, the first row is knitted with the starting color, which we will call the primary color. The second round with the secondary color and from the third round onwards, the corners are knitted with one color and the sides with the other color.
To achieve this we must carry the secondary thread inside, as is done in the Tapestry crochet technique.
It is necessary to be very patient, since when weaving with one of the threads inside, the threads tend to tangle. Then we must weave and untangle the two strands of the balls.
I find this granny pattern ideal for making blankets, because the more twists the granny has, the better the diamond or diamond design looks. It is also important to use contrasting colors to make the effect look nicer.
My Granny collection has reached number 20 and I am very happy about that. My goal for next year will be to continue to grow the collection and reach at least number 50.
Thank you all for the support.
Greetings, blessings and happy new year.

Wow beautiful crochet. I love the color combinations. You are the best. I will love to learn from you
Thanks so much.
