MWM|| NeedleWork your Barbie: Kalanny is a Fashion Designer

Antes de continuar con mi publicación, debo aclarar que este post no es una entrada al concurso, ya que estaré participando como jurado y por obvias razones no estaré concursando.
Sin embargo, no me podía quedar sin hacer una publicación sobre mi concurso favorito.

Blessed start of the week my dear and appreciated NeedleWorkMonday colleagues. Today is a great day for our community, as today we received all the entries to the NeedleWork Your Barbie contest. This is my favorite contest of all and I am sure it is also the favorite of many of you. This is the third edition of the contest and I have been able to see new entrants, which is great for the community.

Before I continue with my post, I must clarify that this post is not an entry to the contest, since I will be participating as a judge and for obvious reasons I will not be competing.
However, I could not stay without making a post about my favorite contest.

For this contest @crosheille suggested choosing a career, profession or trade for our Barbie and based on this create our outfit. I found this modality very interesting, I think it gives an extra touch to the contest.

I couldn't think of a profession for Kalanny other than model and fashion designer, since Kalanny has been the model for my crochet garments in scale. As I have told you before, crochet garments is one of my dreams and great passions, however, making real size garments is a bit complicated for several reasons; that's why thanks to Kalanny I have been able to materialize some designs, since it is much easier and cheaper to knit these garments to scale.

Whenever I start a dress, I imagine the design and then I capture it on a sheet of paper, with the general idea I start knitting, but along the way new ideas arise and the initial sketch gets a little lost. In this particular case, it was clear that the dress would be in a yellow color, since in my country we are in the time of the year when our national tree: "El araguaney" is in bloom. This tree beautifies our streets with its beautiful yellow flowers. This year I have had the joy of admiring our beautiful tree again and I have been amazed with its beauty, that is why I chose to design a dress with this color.

In this post I share with you photos of the creative process of this dress, while I tell you that I have already been able to read several entries to the contest and I found all the submissions fabulous. I think we all have a lot of fun when it comes to dressing our dolls. I, for one, love spending time knitting and designing for Kalanny.

In this dress I combined several techniques and several stitches, I worked with a triple zero needle which is super thin to obtain a neat and delicate result. I decided on a tight bodice with low vertical knitted stitches to accentuate Kalanny's beautiful silhouette. Then I made a short fitted skirt with some ruffles knitted in puff stitch. As a final touch I added a fan stitch knitted tail and placed a flower on one of the shoulders.

I really enjoyed designing and knitting this dress for Kalanny, it was a lot of fun. I was very pleased with the final result, I really liked the dress and I hope you do too.
