To creating an artwork, surfaces to work on are basic necessities. The surface to use for an artwork is based on the choice of the artist and exactly the type of artworks to be produced.

Some surfaces used are mentioned below:

  • paper
  • wood
  • canvas
  • iron/metal
  • clothes,etc

In this post, i will be explaining and giving the due processes to follow in getting one of the surfaces ready for painting or drawing and this medium is CANVAS

In canvassing, materials needed are:

  • 1 inched rods made to form the shape required for an artwork. It could either be in square, rectangle, triangle, etc. it all depends on what is to be painted
  • synthetic rehsin adhesive:this is used to cover up holes on the fabric
  • cloth/fabric: this is the material that will be stretched on the carved and nailed rods
  • painting brush: this is used to apply the adhesive on the fabric after it has been stretched
  • water: this is used to mix and lighten the adhesive

Below are the pictures taken in the process of stretching and making my canvas ready for painting.
