Pelacor Arbalest.png
Pelacor Arbalests are armed with powerful crossbows enchanted to fire bolts at extremely long distances. They are trained to wield a crossbow in each hand and can fire both simultaneously with deadly accuracy. Compounded with the Pelacor's excellent eyesight and nimble dexterity, these sharpshooters are extremely useful as snipers on the battlefield.

Monsters with this ability attack twice each round.

Pelacor Arbalest is a 6-mana Rare Tier Card that was added to the Life deck after the release of Chaos Legion Edition. At level 1 he gets 2 Ranged attacks, 2 Speed & 2 HP, and Double Stike ability right off the bat, which is to me pretty decent for Silver Leagues and below. Leveling him up to 5 unlocks the Flying ability and when maxed out gets 3 Range attack, 3 Speed, 5 HP, and the abilities; Double Stike & Flying. Now let's showcase some battles.

Battles Break Down

BATTLE #001

Although you can compete in any league with level 1 cards as long as you have the Collection Power to move the ranks. Having the cards at their optimum level for the current league you are in is a must. Watch my face against almost similar team compositions with Pelacor Arbalest in it and since my opponents used level 1 cards, there's no way they could win the battle.

Battle 1.1

Rulesets In-play

Rise of the Commons 90px.png
Rise of the Commons
Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.

RULESET TIPS

  • Make a versatile team that has good sustain and damage.
  • Focus-fire strategies are good in this ruleset.

Battle 1.2

Rulesets In-play

Stampede 90px.png
Stampede
The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.

RULESET TIPS

  • Use monsters that have the Trample ability whenever possible to maximize the effect of this ruleset.
  • Higher HP and Speed are the key to this ruleset.
  • You can remove your opponent's Stampede buff by using the Dispel ability.

Melee Mayhem 90px.png
Melee Mayhem
Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position.

RULESET TIPS

  • If you have melee monsters in the back-line with Sneak or Opportunity, those abilities take precedence.
  • Select a summoner that increases melee attack or a summoner that reduces melee attack of enemies plus a tank with high HP & Shield.
  • Abilities such as Thorns , Inspire , Blast , Retaliate , Double Stike , & Protect work very well in this ruleset.

Battle 1.3

Rulesets In-play

Super Sneak 90px.png
Super Sneak
All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability. Enabling them to target the last Monster on the enemy team instead of the first Monster. Unless the Taunt ability is in-play.

RULESET TIPS

  • Choose a summoner that increases or reduces Melee's attack.
  • Keep a tank with high HP & Armor or a highly evasive monster in the last position. Also, if possible monsters with the abilities written below;
    • Shield - Reduced damage taken from Melee and Ranged attacks in half (rounded up). This ability also reduces Thorn's damage by 1 and cancels out the damage from the Redemption ability.
    • Thorns - When hit with a Melee attack, deal 2 melee damage back to the attacker.
    • Retaliate - When hit with a Melee attack, monsters with this ability have a 50% chance of attacking back their attacker, with the possibility of a chain sequence with attack-type abilities.
    • Heal - Restores 1/3 of the Monster's HP (rounded down) each round if the monster with this ability is not stunned or debuffed by the Affliction ability.
  • You may also use the Taunt ability in a position you desire to distract your opponent's sneak monsters from attacking the last position.
  • You may also use the ability Triage as you see fit because the ability heals 1/3 of the friendly back-line monster's HP that has taken the most damage. Which in this ruleset might be your last position monster or Taunt monster that is in 2nd to the last position.
  • Take advantage of monsters with 2 attack types, (Melee + Range or Magic) like War Chaang , The Vigilator , Oaken Behemoth , & Kralus if possible.
  • You may also consider using monsters with the Double Strike ability.

Battle 1.4

Rulesets In-play

Spreading Fury.png
Spreading Fury
All Monsters have the Enrage ability. Enrage monsters will have increased Melee attack and Speed when damaged. Values are multiplied by 1.5 (rounded up)

RULESET TIPS

  • Melee monsters benefit a lot in this ruleset. Try using monsters that have Sneak & Opportunity abilities. If their enrage gets activated, these monsters will deal tons of damage to your opponent's backline.
  • Placing a melee monster with Retaliate ability at the last position is a good counter-measure in general in this ruleset. When an enraged monster's retaliate ability triggers, it can potentially 1HitKO the attacker back.
  • Play around using the Piercing ability too as it will allow your enraged melee monster to pierce thru armor.

Despite matching against a magic heavy team. This one is a no-doubt win for me, because my opponent plays level 1 cards. What we can learn from this match though is that having Double Stike monsters can help take down tanky taunt faster. The 4 damage output of Pelacor Arbalest helped set up the kill for Venari Crystalsmith at R1/T13 and from then on it was an easy peasy lemon squeezy win.

CONCLUSION

Playing with Range monster is really not my style but I still find success in matches showcased above where I'm left with Lil options it's just disappointing that those battles ended up against opponents using mostly level 1 deck but it is what it is. Pelacor Arbalest is a good offensive monster, especially when paired with General Sloan + Double Strike now it deals 8 damage. But despite the high damage potential, he's squishy and on the slower side. Be sure to buff his speed with the Swiftness ability to reduce miss attacks. He's vulnerable when Noxious Fumes ruleset is in play so better watch out for that. But he excels well on the Earthquake ruleset in Gold Leagues and above because that's where he unlocks the Flying ability. Overall he's a good card to have but unless you're a master of Range team composition I believe you would rarely use him making Pelacor Arbalest a niche card on my deck.
