Blog #137: A Well-spent Day @ Marz Valley Nature Park

Happy Wednesday Hivers!

I am still here in Medellin Cebu as I would also love to explore the northern part of Cebu. I rented a room here as my temporary home for just a month. Today marks on my 6th day here so I still have more days to enjoy the place.

Two days ago, I went to Bogo (it's a neighboring town in Medellin) because I have seen it on the internet that there was a nature park there called the Marz Valley Nature Park. What made me excite was the dragon fruit picking. I have never experienced such activity yet so the excitement I had felt that time was intense.

I left my room early because I have to travel almost an hour from Medellin to Bogo where the nature park is located. It is situated in the mountain part of Bogo.

As I alighted from the bus, I hired a motorcycle to convey me to the nature park. I paid php40.00 for my motorcycle fare.

When I arrived, one of their energetic staffs informed me about their outdoor activities and collected php30.00 for the entrance fee.

I was greatly disappointed as she informed me that there was no dragon fruit picking activity since the plant was not fruiting yet. It was not dragon fruit season. She offered me other activities like carabao riding and atv riding. At first, both activities didn't make me excite because I felt pity to the carabao if I ride on the back and I had a bad experienced of ATV riding.

The staff let me took a rest first and she let me figured out what I wanted to do.

I was sitting on the bench when their expert ATV guide came to me and talked about ATV riding. I shared with him about my ATV bad experience. After he heard my story, he gave me an assurance that if I would try their ATV riding I am safe with his hands.

I trusted his words so I gave it a shot. There was a briefing made before we started the ride. In fact, there was a small area where we can practice the basic before they brought us to the location where the activity happens.

At first I was doubtful of my capability as I saw uphill and downhill road and a cliff beside the road. I was hesitant because I was afraid of the road. But because my guide was really good of convincing people and really good at his job I was able to have a great time riding ATV. His great guidance made me feel relax and enjoy the ride.

I thought I would left the nature park with heavy heart since I was not able to have a dragon fruit picking activity but it turns out into an extraordinary day. If you wanted to visit the Marz Valley Nature Park, you can contact them thru their FB Page.
