Daily Lady's Finger Harvest from Just Four Plants

When I sowed our lady's finger (okra) seeds, 10 seedlings successfully sprouted. However, only four of them survived and continued to grow.

It was my first time growing okra, so I didn't know what to expect. I was actually surprised by how tall and vigorous the plants became. I had assumed they would grow just like eggplants, but I was completely wrong. The okra plants turned out to be much bigger and more robust than I had imagined, making the experience even more rewarding.

What surprised me the most was that we could harvest fresh okra every single day. I never expected it to produce pods so quickly. Once the okra reaches the right size, it needs to be picked immediately before it becomes too mature.

Okra matures very fast, and if you leave it on the plant for too long, the pods become tough and fibrous, making them less enjoyable to eat. That's why regular harvesting is important, it not only gives you tender, delicious pods but also encourages the plant to keep producing more.

My mom and I both love eating okra, so I told her that we should definitely grow our own instead of buying it all the time. Now, we have a fresh supply of okra every single day.

Our favorite way to prepare it is very simple, we just boil the okra until it's tender, then squeeze some fresh calamansi over it. That's enough to make both of us happy. It may be a simple side dish, but it's one of our favorites.

Another thing I love about okra is that it doesn't require much maintenance. You just need to water it every day, and before you know it, it grows quickly and starts producing pods. One day you'll be surprised at how fast it has grown and how soon it's ready to harvest.

My mom truly enjoys these okra plants because she gets to harvest fresh pods every single day. Every morning, as soon as she steps into the garden, she heads straight to the okra plants to see what's ready to pick.

It's actually fun to watch because the plants are always full of pods. Some are still tiny, but by the next day, they've already grown so much and are ready for harvest. It's amazing how fast okra develops, which makes checking on the plants every morning something we both look forward to.

Growing okra has been such a rewarding experience for us. From just four surviving plants, we now enjoy a fresh harvest every day.

Watching the plants grow, harvesting fresh pods every morning, and sharing simple home-cooked meals with my mom has made this gardening journey even more meaningful. I hope our little okra garden continues to thrive and provide us with fresh, healthy harvests for many more months to come.
